Thats the noise my disco 300tdi is making,despite being fitted with new belt tensioner,belt,alternater & water pump all in the last month.Someones going to say steering pump. Anyone had similar? Starting to grate on my nerves now. mucky`un.:mad: :confused:

Cheers 4 the reply john.I think i got away with it this time,it had started to drop oil so i gave the pump bolts a slight tweak & no more oil since.Did you have to go the way it says in the manual? E.G: Number 1 at TDC etc,i understand this is nessesary to release the loading on the pushrod...

Hi chris,this will cheer you up even more....if it has to be done from inside,as well as removing the console you may well find yourself drilling out all the rivets that hold the top plate onto the tunnel to gain access,then re-riveting after! I had to do that very recently when replacing the zf...

Most likely your manual box for that year would be an LT77. Later ones had the R380 or ZF4HP22 auto.mucky`un.
