    Modded Hippo thread

I've started a winch bumper project, I bought a Warrior 9500 SD winch at the Harrogate LR show & am getting a winch bumper made, most will fit behind the bumper with just the fairlead protruding (facelift bumper), this is how far I've got. This is the prototype, it is made of 6mm plate &...

    What the hell

Lets face it if it wasn't for the Freelander their probably wouldn't be a Land Rover at all, when it was first produced it quickly became the fastest selling 4x4 in Europe, all at a time when Land Rover were struggling for cash, it remained at the top of the sales charts for quite a few years as...

    Crankcase breather filter

Just read a post by Singvogel in another thread which confirms what you are saying that its a seperator, nor really a filter as such. In that case I might go ahead & fit it :)

    help

http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f9/td4-lack-power-70mph-fixed-77147.html Have a look here for your power problem, its in the stickies, it seems like similar symptoms, try the little filter hanging down at the back of the engine first (Driver side), its open at one end & vents the vacuum to the...

Went out with a couple of chums in Discos a week ago to the Dales Helwith was very tricky due to the amount of water erosion on the bottom section

    Gatesgarth Pass!

I think one of the requirements to get the pass is that the vehicle must have a low range transfer box, the Freelander doesnt so its prohibited :(. I would love to do Gatesgarth in my TD4 Auto, have done Parkamoor & in a few weeks plan to do Stile End, a very steep tricky lane that leads onto...

Do you have any plans to fab a winch mount bumper. Bought a Warrior 9500SD winch at the Harrogate show & now need a way to attach it, dont mind if you use my Freeby as a "prototype" vehicle but I want a bumper that isn't going to pull off the first time I have to recover a Disco ;)

    traction control

I realise Im in the minority here, most people love HDC but both my Freelanders have behaved the same, a manual & an Auto, I just feel I can do better than the HDC, have'nt lost control yet but planning to do Stile End, a very steep lane in the Lake district in a couple of weeks, now that will...

    traction control

Yes about once every 6 months or so I wonder what all the fuss is about so I switch it on pull back the feet & off we go, it goes too fast to pick your way down a rocky decent & on grassy / muddy slopes the ABS & my foot does it just as well, if you try and help it when you think you are going...

    traction control

In other words HDC is a bit of a gimic cos it doesn't do anything that your right foot on the brake pedal & the ABS can do, which is why I never use it for descending hills ;)

    What CB

Mines a clamp type that clamps onto the roof rack, had to scrape some of the powder coating off the rack to get a good earth which is important. I use the shorter 1m antenna, have had about 15 mile range on level terrain.

    What CB

Heres my setup Got the CB in a kit from Thunderpole, came with cables, antenna etc for about £80 I think the cb itself is an Intek, will check on that, it works fine, I had to add an external speaker (not in the pics ) mounted just in front of the cup holders because the built in speaker...

    boot storage units

If you had a Freelander it would never occur to you to put it any other way !!, if you park up correctly the door acts as a windbreak as well ;)

    Turbo boost pressure?

Its generally accepted that Boost pressure is the additional pressure above atmospheric pressure or psig, MAP (manifold absolute pressure) is the pressure above absolute vacuum. So the figure from Haynes is wrong for either !!!, doesn't surprise me, the Haynes manual for the Freelander 1...
