    Off road driving tips

Where does it say in the manual that it can be used for going uphill, my manual says it can be left on whilst driving offroad but will only work when its needed ie going downhill in first or reverse with feet off the pedals. Hill decent won't help when going up a slippery slope, if you think...

    Custom Roof Rack

They bolt directly to the roof not clamped to the roof rails They follow the contours of the Freelander roof so look good & aren't as draggy as the ones that clamp to the rails There are 4 spotlight mounting points at the front & a work light mounting point at the rear They are made from good...

    Freelander with problems

Is it one of the rear driveshafts that was removed or the rear propshaft ? If its one of the rear driveshafts thats removed that would bring on the 3 amigos on a 1999 model

Don't want to be pesimistic but you might find the 3 amigos is the least of your worries, do you know why the prop shaft was removed in the first place ?

When does turbo reach full boost

To eliminate the MAF sensor disconnect it & take it for a run, engine management light will come on but performance will be restored if it is a MAF fault. To be honest it does sound like a MAF fault sluggish at take off up to 3,000 rpm are typical symptoms of a faulty MAF

    Hose testing?

A mate of mine had a problem with the inner part of one of the boost hoses detaching & collapsing inwards, this was not visible from the outside as the casing kept its shape, I'm pretty sure it was a silicon hose also. Seems that there are many TD4's with the same problem at the moment...

I've actually got the VCU guard in the picture languishing in my shed :p, bought it from Ian when he sold his Freelander, it isn't that fragile because Ian Demo'd it by parking his V6 on it ;). Will bring it with me Si when I drop the winch mount off so you can have a look at it

    My 2006 TD4 Auto HSE

If you set them to display minimum detail so they aren't processing a lot of other info the speed calcs update more frequently, check it on a straight piece of road & maintain a constant speed for 30 seconds or so they are fairly accurate. Also those speed monitor signs when you are coming into...

    diesel pre heater

My temperature gauge has been dipping below where it normaly sits as well, I think the reason is I have it in the demist position almost constantly so the AC is on & the fans are running quite fast, if I switch to the facia vents & the AC goes off the coolant temp climbs back to normal.
