Yes it is but its unlikely to be needed in a healthy engine because there is very little flow to make a cyclone, what worries me is dust returning through the open cyclone cage into the engine, I must admit I don't know if the seperator is upstream or downstream of the positive backpressure...

Measure between the wheel centre & wheel arch, that will rule out different tyre sizes, standard Freelander is about 18" between hub centre to underside of wheelarch

I've heard of a few cases where dealers have overwritten remapped ECU's if they haven't been made aware its had a remap but to be honest haven't heard this recently

The problem with the TD4 engine is that the Alternator is lower than the Power steering pump & AC compressor which was fine in its original homes, the BMW 3 & 5 series, all it had to deal with were puddles & car washes, I think LandRover should have insisted it be moved above the other belt...
