I think you need to get hold of a handheld vaccuum pump & test each section individually to see which section is leaking. Don't know if you can rent them from somewhere but a place like Machinemart might sell them

Get your VCU changed, it's a racing certainty that's whats caused your rear diff to self destruct & it sounds to me like your IRD is knackered as well, caused by the same tight VCU. Oh and change your garage for one that knows what they are about. New (OEM) or recon VCU will cost between £300...

Yes, the little holes are between the wheel nut holes, these don't have them.

According to Microcat the one outlined in your pic is p/no. LBH000130 the earlier larger one is LBH000010, would have thought this was easy item to source in a scrappy. :)

How do you mean "whack the side of the socket" ? will that release the taper ?, theres a new ball joint on the new wishbones so aren't too bothered if it damages the gaiter.

Looking at the pics I think the special tool is just a ball joint splitter to release the taper from the hub.
