Does anyone else use their tratter as a kind of mobile ladder to get at the higher apples and other fruit? Had some "interesting" looks from the locals whilst doing so.

    French CT and EGR removal

Hi Gareth, whilst my French isn't bad I'm stymied on EGR unit and it doesn't come up in my Haynes technical term translation manual. "Truc pour le recyclage des emmisions d'echappement"? would be my guess o_O:oops: Mick

    French CT and EGR removal

Hi Marc, was that before or after the rules changed late May this year? If after, then that gives me hope as mine is also a 2003 TD5; Mick

    French CT and EGR removal

Has anyone yet gone through the new tougher CT with their EGR removed? Got mine coming up in a couple of months and whilst it has passed the last few times with the EGR removed I'm wondering if this could cause me a problem next time.

    Travelling to France

When the law first came in (before it became irrellevent) I bought some. One day after a perfectly normal lunch that involved nothing more than a small kir aperatif each and sharing a 50cl pichet of red wine between us, my wife and I tried them out. Whilst I was under the limit she registered as...

    Travelling to France

Thanks Paulindre, I wasn't aware of that! You could have saved me a spot of bother. Although in the past I have only used it to haul people out of snow drifts, mud holes and ditches.:)

If you get stuck in France

I have a copy of the Haynes manual translation of all technical terms from English to French. I'd post it but I'm not sure what the legal implications of that would be even though it doesn't say "copyright" anywhere on it, so if you need it then best to pm me.

    Travelling to France

Howdy , it depends which route you're taking but if you are taking the ferry to St Malo then that's near me. Whilst I have the mechanical ability of a blind Wombat I do have a tow rope and am happy to translate if needed. One thing to be aware of is that the national speed limit has now been...

    Travelling to France

Good idea. One thing to note is that the French regard the accent of brits speaking french just as we brits regard the french accent. Tres sexy. So even if you only know a few words of french it's a good idea to use them. It goes down really well and the smiles you get are not just taking the...

and I've no idea if the cross border directive applies to this allowing them to chase UK registered vehicles for fines. Maybe someone else can clarify.

    Travelling to France

Sorry for the delay in responding. My understanding is that the implemetation of the requirement of Crit Air stickers currently is only in certain metropolitan areas – Paris, Lille, Grenoble and a couple of others at the moment. Other towns have the ability to impose them when they wish. For...

    Sad day today

How long it was??? Do the 110s change length? Seriously though, what are you envisioning as an alternative for combating the snow?

Pulled for going too slow on the motorway

I love he fact that of of the 7 vehicles visible in that shot 1 is in the middle lane for no reason and 3 are in the third lane for no reason :D

Pulled for going too slow on the motorway

Yep. Definitely two camps. Although I'd define them as those who are convinced that they are right no matter what and those who are prepared to listen to the thoughts of others and perhaps change their point of view. As is usually the case in life.:D:p

Pulled for going too slow on the motorway

I once got the defender up to 85 according to the speedo just to see if I could. After about 15 seconds the risk of seriously spoiling the upholstery proved to great and I'll never do that again!!
