    17 yr old td5 insurance

Did someone mention admiral? Oh dear, good luck if you are unfortunate enough to have to make a claim, they are useless. Insured my disco this year with a company call glynnwood, excellent service. Could be worth looking them up?

Knock when changing gear could also be the a frame joint worn
  4. Q

    Passenger footwell wet

Does sound air con related, possibly drain tubes blocked. Could also be heater matrix, but as not losing coolant that's unlikely.

Accident pay cash or insurance ?

Pay it cash and don't tell the insurance. Benjamin Disraeli once said- "There are three types of lie. Lies, damned lies and statistics" Just because you've had a minor bump, doesn't mean you are going to have another in the next 12 months. You may never have another one for as long as you have...

    Big Blue - The Rebuild

Cheers all. She is now back on the road, mot was done 3 days before it snowed back in january :) god knows how many hours I spent on it. Given the funds a new crossmember and floor would have gone in. Hopefully next year when things improve financially
  12. Q

Why did you buy a disco!!

Because I value my hearing and I like them, as well as not requiring nasa to fix it when it goes wrong.

    300TDI ...Boost gauge

You can use the hole in the back of the manifold. Get a banjo bolt and a new boost pipe (the one from the turbo to pump) and plumb it in using that. It's how I did mine :)

    Sluggish disco.........not any more!

I did all these adjustments when i fitted my full width intercooler, and on standard 70 series disco tyres it would spin the wheels on take off :) After changing to taller 85 series tyres it won't spin the wheels, but even with a heavy ish right foot i'm still seeing 28-30 mpg on the "urban"...

    Big Blue - The Rebuild

Get it rust protected with lots of waxoyl then while it is relatively rust free, even if it involves removing the front wings to do the A panels, and make sure you spray up the inside of the inner rear quarters too. can't have them, sorry, took me a week and a half of rubbing back and painting...
  16. Q

    Advice on some rust!

Yes, it will be a fail. Door pillars are now checked for rot in the mot, and it's within 30cm of a body mount
  17. Q

    Big Blue - The Rebuild

and that's it up to date. The chassis swap is still pending (once i can actually find the time to get the body stripped off the donor), but will happen this year. There WILL be more to come.....

    Big Blue - The Rebuild

December 2012 gave us the best weather of the year...... nice weather = more welding :) another nice day = more welding done to the o/s rear 1/4 - should be able to get the 1/4 panel back on this weekend :) :) ...and the welding to the rhr quarter is now complete. Seam sealer and...

    Big Blue - The Rebuild

hopefully this is the last of the rusty stuff in the bodywork..... started chopping some more tin worm out last night, debating about removing the quarter panel to get at the lower rear corner better on this one as there's more rot than i was expecting...... ....although i may just...
