I've got a 300TDi that I use most days for work (I'm a gardener), have driven up to Aberdeen a few times and do a bit of greenlaning when I have the time. Great motor, good on the long distance hauls, and when I'm not bashing down muddy lanes and I'm light with my right foot, I can get over...

Can't remember exactly, but my '95 Disco 300TDi is on about 238,000 - I think - and going strong. I've recently done 3 trips from Dorset up to Aberdeen (550 miles each way) with no problems what-so-ever. And take it out laning every no and again.

Actually, if you've got two grand to spend. Spend a grand on a fairly decent and well looked after 300TDi and then the other grand on some off-roady bits for it!

You could use an old windsurfing mast and fix it as Optimus Prime ^^^ says.

Hey Roy, and welcome. I believe that this may have been covered once or twice on the forum. Have a search and see what it come up with. As for high or low ratios, it reminds me of when a mate's sister asked what gear she should be in to go up a big steep hill. Answers on a postcard please!
