can anyone tell me if i change my ecu and get on with the same numbers on will it comunicate with my becm or will it have to be reprogrammed???

i have read that p38 diesels the glow plug relay is controlled by the ecu not the becm is this true and can it have killed my ecu ?

which fuse did it blow?

did have but its off now which fuse would it be and would the glow plug relay cause the engine check light no iluminate when the ignition is turned on

my 1997 p38 glow plugs dont work i have no engine check light and no glow plug light it wont start any ideas

well i did the test as discribed on here and it seem to be working ok i have been told it could be the chain in the transfer box jumping it seems that the bang is under the front seats or near the front wheels but i cant be certain

i have had cv joints done 3 weeks ago was doing the same withe the old ones on thats why i changed them so i think i migh have to go with Datatek and get a new vcu thanks for the quick replies guys

hi guys my 2001 dse makes a loud banging noise in full lock and under load. as i pull up my drive which is rather steep i have to make a sharpe turn at the top and when i make that turn am in full lock and there is a loud bang even if i do it in reverse what can be causing this noise any help please

viscous fans for p38s diesels are expensive £90 but if you get a 300tdi (£30 viscous fan they are the same al you have to do is grind the rivets if your old unit that holds the fan blades on and they will bolt on the 300tdi unit and that will fit straight to the diesel engine but will not fit...

i am thinking on fitting a manual turbo boost control valve on my 1997 diesel auto p38 and wanted to know is there a certain amount of boost you can have from the turbo and if so how much ?

there will be no differance just all prices vary from place to place
