    you said new shoes and drums ? are they genuine ? might be that pattern parts arnt quit the right sizes so not the perfect fit they should be

    its never worth risking it with your brakes if something brakes it needs replacing especally at that price

    check for air leaks on the inlet manifold with the engine running spray somekind of carb cleaner around the gasket and pipes see if the revs pick up if so you got a leak

    unless the cylinder is new stop being a cheap sod and just change it its not worth the greef trying to get it out if you heat it up you may damage the seals if you drill it and try to extract it you may damage the seat if it wont come out with molegrips just change it

    sealey do a 1 man kit it sounds the same as the first kit you discribed with the hand pump they ar about £70 but work really well and holds loads of fluid i will see if i can get hold of the part number

    see there lies your problom not being able to weld yourself could end up costing you an arm and a leg if your a practical kinda guy then i would try and get somebody to teach you a bit with a bit of practise you can soon pick up the basic's either that or i hope you got an understanding mate

    right to the best that i know there is no diffrence between petrol and diesel boxes as yours is a s3 then it will have a s3 box (normally). the main diffrance between s2 and s3 is the syncromesh an s2 box only has them on 3-4 gears but the s3 has it on all gears the quickest way of telling...
