What have you done to your Landie today.

This morning am going to put some draft excluding rubber stuff around my drivers door to reduce wind nosie and going shove a wad of paper behind the rear back seat headrest to stop it squeaking. This is highly technical stuff and I know people will want pics and a guide etc....but its going to...

    Running Costs UK Vs Ireland

Talk about a Rip Off.....I pay 1080euro road tax (approx. £820) in Ireland. That's why we call it "Rip Off Republic". So it seems it may be worth changing my Disco to a UK plate for the year I'm there. Does anyone know off hand what is the procedure and associated costs with doing that?

    Running Costs UK Vs Ireland

Hi All...moving to the UK for a year or so and bringing my Disco TD5 with me. Was thinking or changing to UK plates etc...so can anyone clarify what is the road tax for a D2 in the UK and what approx. are people paying for insurance? As a comparison - running costs in Ireland: Road Tax...

    Anyone try this stuff?

Its a TD5. there's no white smoke, no brown stuff in the oil etc...none of the obvious signs other then the fact that its loosing a small amount of coolant.

    Anyone try this stuff?

Hi All....I suspect I may have a failing head gasket. Symptoms: Loosing small amount (approx. half litre) coolant each week with no residue / leaks on the driveway. Was pricing up head gasket replacement kits when I came across this stuff: Steel Seal Head Gasket Repair | Head Gasket...

aimed at shifty ! any ways that i can make my td5 disco change gear at lower revs ?

Hi...I guess you referring to the HD Torque converter that Ashcroft Supply? I have one fitted and it makes a huge difference to gear changes. On moderate acceleration my TD5 auto pulls through all the gears in or around 2000rpm - 2200rpm. You feel it grabbing the torque a lot lower down the rev...

    Bouncy Rear End

Had a google...was expecting a better quality shock to me more expensive. Might give them a try at that price.

    Bouncy Rear End

Yeah its crossed my mind to go back to air but in the meantime I'm convinced the bouncy rear end with the coils is down to getting a better shock and with better dampning

    Bouncy Rear End

Hi All...a few months back I converted from Air to Coil with a standard Britpart kit and a new set of standard rear shocks. While 90% of the time the ride is fine, I find the rear end very "Bouncy" when you hit a few undulations in the road...especially with a bit of weight on board...

    Help needed

I'm not mechanically minded either, but if I were you I'd find a local landy specialist (not a main dealer) and let him have a look at it.

    Discovery 2 - 48 hour disaster

Hi...I've got the same D2 as you and it looks great too. Had it now for 6 months & you wouldn't believe the amount of niggly little problems I've had to sort out. This morning for example I changed the transfer box oil myself for the first time.....took most of the morning but was great fun. I...

    TD5 Wheel Hub (Front)

Guys...assume you're aware of a way to clear this fault manually? (automatics only) Do as follows and see if it clears. Switch off engine Put your foot on the brake Move gear selector up and down through the range 4 or 5 times (From 1 to P and back again finishing in P) Restart engine. See...

New Heavy Duty Torque Converter causing "shunt"

Hi All....just to close this thread out....happy to report that the gearbox seems to have adapted to the new TC over time and the changes are now very smooth, almost un-noticeable. Clearly the adaptive settings work but just take time to "re-learn". In my case approx 500miles of driving with the...

    Decided to buy

I've ace on mine and there's practically no roll when cornering at speed (ish...), so I'd test drive both if you can and see the difference.

    Manual or Auto

Yes but with the auto in low range and 1st gear selected it holds that gear so you get the engine breaking same as a manual.

    Manual or Auto

Hi...this is an endless debate and many people with swear by manuals and others by auto's. I've got an auto and I love it....too much hassle to change gear, but I've had a manual defender before which I did more off-roading in and I would think the manual offers more control for off-roading. If...

    Heavy Duty Torque Converter

Auf...I had the same feeling after remapping mine, removing the EGR and fitting a De-Cat + Sports air filter....all very well but the extra grunt was lost on the standard TC. With the bigger one it does a great job of grabbing the power much earlier on.
