    Insuring modified vehicles

If you're with Churchill you will be told to FO. NFU had no hassle insuring my TD5 with similar mods to yours at a better rate than the men with the dog. Tom

    cracked head

That one's easy to answer: they didn't...... Best speak to Frida at Turners - a complete new head + fitting kit will set you back around £1300. The head they supply is made by the original manufacturer, but apparently with all the cracking issues sorted out. Tom

Webasto Thermo Top C Advice Needed

As it says, the main fuel line.... If you could, Webasto wouldn't have you take a fuel line all the way back to the diesel tank to get juice for the Thermotop. Tom

Webasto Thermo Top C Advice Needed

Howdy Will do. I'm plumbing mine in to a seperate tank. This'll save me the hassle of taking the fuel line back to the tank. You can't splice into the main fuel line, as this is under pressure and will cause hassles. Tom

Webasto Thermo Top C Advice Needed

It is a small diesel burning heater that is connected in-line to the water system of the vehicle. A lot of vehicles come std with them e.g. the Freelander before they introduced the ceramic one in the recent models. They heat the engine block and make your vehicle nice and toasty before you...

Howdy I'll hopefully have an answer for you tomorrow - will be giving Webasto UK a call. I've also got one to install, and got help from another forum: HI Tom, sorry for answering only today, but my wife and I were on a 3 weeks holiday in Scotland (with the Landy, of course, and it was...

Fitting a disco transfer box to a defender td5

It would be better than 30mpg if I could just lift my foot off the happy pedal... Thought the novelty of being able to get going a bit quicker and overtaking would wear off, but no it hasn't! Tom

Fitting a disco transfer box to a defender td5

Hi Wooly Its really worth doing. My 110 has gone from a top speed of around 60mph to around 80mph. Certainly makes cruising along much more relaxing. Ashcrofts did mine for me + put in recon ed G + T boxes (didn't need them, but thought it would be a good idea at the time. Once you've done...

    advice needed

A common fault of the TD5 is cracks on the head around the injectors, if you catch it early, it'll cost around £2300 to fix, if not, the diesel will give the turbo a life of its own, and that will be a little more expensive. If you do have to replace the head, speak to Turners, as Land Rover...

    td5 mass air flow (confused)

Should be reading about 60 if I remember correctly. Mine was also reading around 40 and felt flat. An OE one got it sorted. Tom

Some mild Green Laning in S.Yorksire..

There's a nice easy one near Matlock which is just down the road from you - If I rember correctly it is off Oldfield Lane. Did it a year or so ago, so will be worth checking if it is still open. Tom

going to buy my first td5

Hi Chris I'm sure others will be along with faults they've found. Here are a few of problems I've had: 1. Fuel regulator leaking (fairly cheap fix - approx £90) - you'll see diesel all over the rear of the engine. It doesn't have to be fixed immediately, and the diesel leeking into the...
