thanks again turboman i might try a boost gauge just read the haynes book again an it shows how to fit a gauge between turbo and actuator this should tell me one way or another it says to test when driving up a hill with full throttle maintained .that would exsplaine why im not seeing any...

thank you turboman the wastegate actuator seems very stiff and there does not seem tb any movement when engine is reved should i be seeing some movement or is there a problem with the actuator

been out road testing gently all seems fine .ive left the breather hose that connects to the air intake off but there is air comming out of the hose connection not smoke is this normal it must be comming back from the turbo not sure wot this means reading threads sounds like some crankase...

no thats it in for penny im going to take the head of again and try to deglaze the bores new pistons rings shells will take a couple of weeks to get the money together.hope to pass mot in the meantime mightbe lucky and scrape through emisions if my head repair lasts that is fingers...

hello brooks reading youre thead on piston rings ect how did you get on with the deglaze did you manage to sort it out or have you gone for a rebore with oversize piston and rings its been a while since you wrote this any news

sounds tricky might be to much for me at the moment maybe wait till ive got enough money to get it done by somebody with more exspertise.or buy a 200tdi and get the block rebuilt.but thinking about it i would like to do the 19j myself

got it back together today had to reset the valve clearances bit of a panick on that but watched trailer fitter on you tube and learnt the RULE OF NINE easy to pick up and soon had it sorted finished putting it back together took the battery of charge put it back in bit worried about air in fuel...

do you think spending the money for new pistons is worthwhile

i used a steel rule across the hot spots and they are siiting level with the head surface.they feel very smooth when you run youre hand across them hopeing thats good enough the haynes doesnt help much on this hotspot replacment

ok borrowed a valve spring compressor took valves out they dont look to bad one of the valve stem oil seals had popped of its seat got some photos but my lad is out with his girlfriend till latter hes got em on his ipod anyway got the bug now up late last night reading lots of threads and found...

is steel wool a good idea for cleaning between valves or should i use a chemical cleaner and softer material for scrubing head sorry about all these questions and thanks again for all the help

found hotspots £15+vat each bearmach can anybody tell me is it nessesary to do all 4 at the same time seems sensible but its all money and any saving would be good

can i buy replacement hot spots for the head i cannot see any sign of cracks anywhere else the bores feel very good no ridges around pots
