    The simple answer is yes, you can fit a second hand one........... You will obviously have 2 keys but it is do-able, They aren't coded to the vehicle via a door lock so it is a straight forward fix.

    I've seen they're ebay site.... They really do sell a 2wd conversion vcu, they try and justify selling it by saying your freelander may fail it's MOT without a propshaft :boxing:

    Agreed.... I would say you definately need a medium to high, mechanical/electrical technical know how to keep one on the road, fault free to be considered an affordable/practicle vehicle. Othewise much home work is required before purchasing. Oh bugger what's that fluid running down my drive!!!

    Did he definately mean joints and not boots?? Personally I would just replace the grease in the joint and put new boot's on....... Only my opinion though.

    Oh yes all know all the woo's of common rail high pressure pumps. I do believe most systems run at around 2000 bar...... Had it drummed into us on the old Jag/Lanny courses!!! And yes if you are unfortunate enough to be "squirted at" shall we say, then wave goodbye to a limb or 2 or as you say...

    They're hardly high pressure on a petrol........ You run more of a risk of recking your ecu if powering up injectors with them connected up. I'd be very wary trying that trick on a diesil though, not that you would put 12v across a diesil injector to test it anyway.........

    From what I could make of it I think so......... But now got a lovely shiny modified one on. Think I will advise her to get the modified thermostat fitted whilst I'm in the thick of it
