    Help for a newby.

I have a V8 and love it. I won't say anything else as the diesel crowd on here tend to get very defensive and it ends up in a bun fight.

    Getting hot when towing

I think the P38 is the only car in the world that has a button that lights up when it's turned off and not on!

    Getting hot when towing

Don't they run hotter on LPG?

    Smashed wing mirror!

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately L322s have depreciated to the point where the great unwashed can buy them so I guess we'll see more incidents like this of bits being removed. A mate has an e46 M3 and lives in central London and his front bumper has been stolen three times now!!

Does anyone use their P38 Offroad

Really does seem to be a design oversight that they decided to put the BECM under the seat. Does anyone know where the modules for the L322 are kept? I presume somewhere waterproof?

Voodoo door locks driving me crazy!!

I've recently replaced my driver's door latch as it was triggering the alarm in the recent heatwave. My money would be on one of the latches needing replacing. Edited to add - latches tend to go for silly money on ebay but I managed to pick this one up for less than 30 quid delivered so keep...

lookjng for a new p38 advuce sought

Exactly, overheat a petrol and you got problems, overheat a diesel and you've got problems too! :)

lookjng for a new p38 advuce sought

The BMW unit in the P38, I think was designed to go in BMW saloons so hauling a great lump like the P38 around isn't the best.

lookjng for a new p38 advuce sought

I've driven a few diesels and found you had to floor it everywhere to extract any sort of performance out of them. Whereas the V8 you just waft about, isn't that what a Range Rover is about?

lookjng for a new p38 advuce sought

Plus the associated labour costs of removal/fitting. In the last year on here I've seen more posts on diesel engine problems than v8s. Point is these cars are old and regardless of the engine they all have the possibility of giving you trouble :)

In the same regard, make sure you put a couple of k aside for when the head cracks on the diesel :)

    Anyone know Mike Russell, Anglesey?

Good to know. I buy a fair amount of P38 'bits' and this will be one seller I will avoid!

    HEVAC trouble, no AC

Glad to hear you're getting it sorted. It's really annoying when the AC doesn't work!

    sat nav screen

Of course you can always go for a single din sat nav unit if you don't want to butcher your dashboard.

    HEVAC trouble, no AC

I think you need to get a gauge on it to see how much gas is in the system.

    HEVAC trouble, no AC

On mine you can clearly see condensation on the cold pipe when the AC is on.

    96k mile service

That's nearly as much as a P38 is worth these days!!
  18. stjohnsmythe

    HEVAC trouble, no AC

There may be a small leak somewhere that wasn't detected when you had it regassed (I asume they checked for leaks?). Most AC systems won't engage if the pressure is too low. I used to have an Alfa that need regassing regularly, it had a very small leak that didn't show up with the uv dye test.

    sat nav screen

This looks like it was done well. P38 - Navigation & iPod Integration Installed - CLEAN

    sat nav screen

Considering the silly prices the OEM screens go for on ebay and how far screen technology has come in the past 10 years or so, i'd get something more up to date! I used to have a 2001 330ci with built in sat nav (same screen as used in the P38). This was years ago and even then the screen...
