Taking the plunge? Or keep my 2.5DSE,P38?

You forgot to add the bit about living on park benches and Tenants Super :)

Taking the plunge? Or keep my 2.5DSE,P38?

You're going to have to sell an awful lot of deep fried mars bars to do that :)

I love my P38 but I'd have an L322 4.4 over it any day!

P38 Conversion Upgrade to L322 front & Rear

Early ones can be had for 6k. If you think that's cheap, you should see what they go for in the trade and at auctions!

P38 Conversion Upgrade to L322 front & Rear

When you take into account the cost of doing this upgrade properly and the value of your P38, wouldn't you be better off selling the car and buying an early L322? I could sort of see the point when L322s were new and 50k+ but you can pick them up for 6k these days!

    Lost Sat Nav Option

My old 3 series BMW used to have the same problem. I think the sat nav system in the L322 is the same? I wouldn't use WD40 thought as it tends to gum up after while and cause more problems. Get some electrical contact cleaner from Halfords.

    P38 heat sheilds

Land Rover certainly wouldn't have fitted them if they weren't needed. Just think how much money they would of saved :)

    By the seaside

Nah, it's a diesel. It's so underpowered that it got stuck there and just rotted away :)

    Glass tint question

Judging by the alarming rate that the exterior trim seems to discolour, I'd agree with this.

    Glass tint question

Just find someone breaking the same model year RR as yours. Search on ebay, there are loads!!

    Central locking problem

Ah, just the aerial (blue wire I think?).

New here and wanted to say HELLOOOO!

Well you certainly bought the right car :)

Thinking of getting a p38 but which one?

That sounds like a lot for a chip considering no induction or exhaust mods. My worry would be increasing the workload on an already old engine.

Thinking of getting a p38 but which one?

And the brand new model Range Rover will walk all over your L322. It's horses for courses :)

Thinking of getting a p38 but which one?

Not really what these cars are about though really? Basically, if you buy a Range Rover (Classic, P38 or L322) that's diesel or petrol there is a good chance it will develop faults or breakdown at some point :)

    rain getting in

Yep, basically silicon everything in sight! Luckily the driver's side hasn't done the same..........yet :)

    Central locking problem

Mine's a 98 and I left the receiver disconnected for a year with no problems.

    Central locking problem

Both my fronts used to do this as the motors had burnt out. I upgraded to the latest receiver and replaced the latches. All good since. Edited to add-I presume the latches are second hand? It may be that the latch that isn't working has a burnt out motor. If you take the latch out and unscrew...

    rain getting in

Mine used to leak in the same spot, just putting silicon round the cover didn't work, I had to take the scuttle panel apart and silicon up the intake box. If you take it apart it's pretty obvious. I'll try and find the link to the diy on rangerovers.net.

Why so few bits on the shelves?

I reckon they fully stock shelves for P38s each day but they're so unreliable their stock is cleared out by lunchtime :)
