My rebuild thread! 3.9 disco v8

Were they ok? You are sure the noise is from the bottom of the engine? Did you by any chance try and push and pull on the big ends, did they feel solid, after you re fitted them.

The score marks is a sign of dirt/machine swarf going through the engine. The shiny bits is contact with the crank. I know you already assembled the engine but did you check the mains?

The fact that the piston is floating on the wrist pin, is not a floating pin. The quickest way to determine which one you have is, do you have circlip's holding the wrist pin in tact then you have a floating pin, if no circlip's its press fit. See easy peasy......... 😉

What....you mixed the conrod caps?? Waaaaa that is a bummer, you found your fault then. They are extremely precise. You are unfortunately going to remove the heads and pistons and conrods to sort this, the good thing is you don't have to remove the engine again.

Floating pin uses bush, press fit does not use bush. Then did you keep the conrod and piston matched? Did you dismantle the rocker shafts? and made sure they were assembled correctly? Mate if you think I am probing to much just tell me to shut up....ok

Have you renewed the small end bushes, if not that could be causing the noise. Did you keep every piston and wrist pin exactly in its exact spot, no mixing up of the parts? You got your pistons in the right way? Is this noise there hot and cold, or only hot?

Dammmmmmm that does not sound good. Have you renewed small ends? How does it sound like, is it after the rev and the engine is slowing down then you hear the rattle noise KRRRRRR? Are you sure its not tappets maybe.
