    Hello and advice please...

Morning , rust is your biggest enemy, most things can be sorted reasonably cheaply. But if you need a new chassis or bulkhead it could get expensive very quickly. Don't buy on age , go for condition. Look at a few and you'll soon get an idea on what you can expect.

    Recommended essex LR independent garage?

I've used Gratech a few times . With my wife's freelander 2 , and my defender and they have been fine. Much cheaper than a main dealer too.

    Newby and wannabee!!!

Good evening. The best advice is, when your viewing one spend more time looking underneath it rather than inside it, or at the body work .

    Which Year Defender

I went from a 300 to td5 and would never go back, it may not be as easy to work on , but it's still a reliable engine . The main reason is it's a vastly superior engine. it's smoother, more powerful, sounds better and is more tuneable. It's better for towing, and better off road, as you can...

    What's it's like to own a defender

If you get a good one you'll be fine. I had very little knowledge when I got my td5 , but you soon pick things up. The key is to start with simple stuff and gain confidence. As has already been said getting the old rusty nuts and bolts off is the worst thing. Well worth it all though.
