    ABS light sequence

    ABS light sequence

You would have to drive it a few yards to log the fault though....

    ABS light sequence

I would say that if the ABS light goes out at 5mph then the MOT guy should not fail it. Just because a fault is logged does not mean it's still faulty otherwise the light would stay on!

    ABS light sequence

Maybe the ABS light dosen't blink off if a fault code is stored then? I just had mine reset so I can't say if mine did that or not...

Tinkering noise under freelander when moving.

Thump the exhaust boxes and listen for a rattle.

    Cold start question.

Well I have 'found' a way to stop this problem.... If just before turning the engine off I give it a rev and turn off the engine promptly then next time I start the engine it fires up normally with no problems? So I suppose the 'extra' delivery of fuel is helping matters? With this in mind can...

    Oh no, three Amigos now!

I tested the hill decent last night, first time I tried it! Do you 'normally' get a whirring noise under the bonnet and what feels like brakes coming on at different times? Weird sensation for the driver......

Replacement VCU - vibration, then noise

Haynes book simply says they must be lined up at 90 degrees to the prop/VCU which should be straight. Are they good bearings or cheapo ones, Bell Engineering advised me to steer clear of cheap ones with crappy bearings. They should have worked 'out of the box' though....

Replacement VCU - vibration, then noise

Has the VCU been checked? Does it get hot after a few miles driving? Read up on here about VCU and IRD failure, they are usually linked!

Cost me a bottle of red. (Wine not diesel! But the wine may be cheaper...)

    ABS light sequence

See my post about my ABS problem, mine needed a 're-set' of the ECU and was fine after that.

    Cold start question.

Update on this, I replaced the primer bulb which didn't really improve things. I replaced all the bleed off pipes on the injectors, that didn't seem to make much difference either! While checking the ABS sensors today I noticed a damp patch on the chassis next to the tank. It may be a slight...

    Oh no, three Amigos now!

Solution, I have had time to check all the ABS sensors today, all read 900 ohms so I supposed they were ok? Went to see a mate at a local garage and his new Snap On fault code reader works on the pre-2001 Landrovers! He read the ABS for me and it shows no faults. He then re-set the fault...

    CB earth on freelander

The best place on a car for a transmitting aerial is always the centre of the roof allowing an even radiation pattern. Mounting it on the back will always be a compromise. A mag mount will work far better, try it and see! :)

How many more faults can my Hippo develop!

Not yet, been working away from home, will be a weekend job I expect. Found a really good guide on how to repair the subframe mount if that's what has gone. From others description of this fault the noise I have sounds similar. I hate welding under cars!!!!!

Can I easily check them? I'll go out now and look if I can...

Both I suppose, sounds like the 'snick' noise when you cut something with metal cutters.
