Some Frenchies in a Slitty at Plage Blanche

Very much so. Our offroad club has been called out to rescue more than a few 4x4s at pegwell bay in kent. I'll share our experience with you, should you come across someone in distress. We found that.... If a truck is up to it's axels and the belly is 'sucked' to the sand you aint got...

Has anyone organised a morocco trip before

You will know as soon as you get there James :D The place is stunning .....As griffdowg says, no reason not to do it solo in a well serviced vehicle for all the reasons he stated. You'll probrably meet others you can tag along with en route in any case, and still be able to have some...

Fix it or sell it for spares?

Does not sound like a monster job to someone who has welding facilities. I'd probrably accept a loss and let someone else get it back on the road again. Knowing the money discos go for...it probrably don't owe you anything if at all.

    Safety in Africa

I always fancied doing the capetown - uk trip. Is it still an adventure, or has the safety/security/corruption in many African countries got to a stage where the trip is not worth the risk? What are your thoughts?

taking a ex-military landy on holiday

Not to my knowledge. So long as it hasn't a 50 cal mounted on top and is now registered with civillian plates and has log book no problems. Plenty people paint civilian Landy's in mod colours.

    tyres (winter)

Totally agree with Rich and can speak with some experience, BFG ATKOs are by a country mile the best all rounder IMHO. Here's mine....on 31/10.50/15s http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg186/g7ree/gl1.jpg

    Studded Tyre - UK Supplier?

Roads in Norway are kept pretty clear in winter (can't speak for Sweden). If you come across conditions that are so bad that you need studded tyres, the road will probrably be closed till it's sorted. And remember studded tyres aint much cop when you get off the tarmac. I personally would go BFG...

Why did you buy a disco!!

    This is why....

Turning a 7 seat disco into a van

I'd agree with palace. Think you would regret puting panels behind the front seats. It will restrict your view. You could easily mount a dog gaurd on a low board to keep them out of the front....and easily to convert back if needed.

    can someone identify this noise?

If it's happening when you 'turn at speed' is it not the tyre fouling on something when the disco leans to one side. Check for areas of rubbing on body/plastics/chassis etc and obviously check the tyres too. Be nice if you could record the noise and give us a listen (you tube).

Preparing an RR V8 Classic for a trip to Morocco?

A rangie will be fine. Don't get too carried away with mods. A good service and tyres are the most important thing. Check the suspension and cooling system in particular. There aint much a moroccan can't fix en route 'whilst your having a cuppa'.

    Morocco Summer 2011 Report(family trip)

Nice looking landy. And nice write up. Know what you mean about not seeing other 4x4s. Makes you feel pretty exposed at times.

Memory map or similar for laptop + GPS

The michelin map needs to be saved as a TIFF document, and it 'must' be uploaded to Memory Map 'European Edition' to be able to calibrate it. I took the map to a printers and had the whole thing scanned as one TIFF document. Once the TIFF document was uploaded to memory map I used 5...

Memory map or similar for laptop + GPS

This was my set up. I'm afraid the top picture is a bit k-rap. You can see my magnetic gps mouse sat on top of the CB. You can also scan any map to European Edition of MM and calibrate it. I did this with the Morocco Michelin Map. http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg186/g7ree/DSC00195.jpg...
