I managed to get the snapped bolt out with my fingers so that says it all really!

Yeah for the first guy to come and say "yep you've snapped a rocker bolt!" Then another 3 hours for a recovery!

Wish it was a v8 :D I'll check the timing when I get chance to repair the rocker shaft. It looked pretty wet with oil when I removed the rocker cover but couldn't understand how it could just snap but thanks for the advice I'll look into it

Sounds like the same problem I had just yesterday a snapped rocker shaft. ........ Sorry if I was closer I would come and help

Could I just get another set of locking nuts and lock them in place while I take the rocker bolts out?

Sorry yes it's the rocker shaft :o Any idead what could of caused it? Im guessing at oil starvation?

Well........ its pretty self explanatory really but here goes So it started to tap yesterday on first start up so I checked the oil after having a slight oil leak (its a land rover after all) the oil level was a little low so I topped it up but still tapping. I got about 10 minutes down...

I had an old reno 5 gt turbo amd when the valve stem seals went on that it caused smoke on tick over#because oil drops into the cylinder doesn't it?

Oh sorry didn't read the power loss and smoke. Could be valve stems which would explain the smoke and power loss

I had the same problem but with my 300tdi. It turned out to be my tappets that need adjusting. Im not clued up on 200tdi's. If the tapping gets louder when the oil filler cap is removed then it's more than likely your tappets need adjusting

I've adjusted the dip so I don't blind the driver in front 'or behind (somehow, sorry couldn't resist :-)) . I parked it in front of a wall yo double check and it all seems good and I haven't had anyone flash me so im thinking all is good

No all pretty straight forward. Have you bought a egr blanking kit yet because you really don't need to if you can get hold of a welder?
