Some little ****(s) have tried to have my 90 off the drive. Disklok was a little bit mangled but thankfully didn't give in. Now added gear lock (x-defend) plus Yale shed alarm (but for some reason that gives false alarms when the sun shines through!).

I have a nice D1 but with somewhat rusty rear door tops (I. E. The black window frames). Are these interchangeable with D2 and if so will I need the D2 outer seal (sits at top of the door panels against the glass)?

Yes. Unrelated to the in / out movement looking to replace the half shafts and drive flanges as there is some wear between the two but different shaft part numbers quoted depending on whether 2 pin or 4 pin diff eg frc7680 for 2 pin and frc8094 for 4 pin...bit confused.

As a follow up to this James if I wanted to replace drive shafts and drive flanges how do I tell whether I have 2 or 4 pinion pinion diff? Can I tell without removing the diff?

Hi thanks for the prompt response. I think the alternator is OK as it's kicking out a steady 14.1 when driving and close to that when idling. From what you've told me though perhaps I need to check for a loose connection on the alternator. Cheers.

Hi 97 300tdi auto with EDC... Noticed a few times recently that when driving the tachometer momentarily cuts out (ie the indicated revs drop) and the ignition light flashes on. There is no performance issues at all ie the revs don't "actually" drop. Any advice welcome please.

1997 disco. Anyone know how to remove the vertical black trim on the outside of the c post please? Is it just pushed on or do I need access from behind?

The purpose of this original query was so that I could get the headlining out to investigate occasional wet patch on front edge of headlining in corner above passenger seat. Well managed to get the lining out and now I'm crying at what I've seen!
