Cunning plan you had there, I like it...I'll have it then. PM me details.

Disco 2 Thing took off like a startled dog!

A vehicle designed for pulling stuff...people, heavy loads, trailers - seems like a good description to me? I can't call it a car, it's more than that. I can't call it an SUV, just because. 4x4 could describe anything. Or, maybe I'm just being multi-cultural, lazy, take yer pick :) Thanks for...

Disco 2 Odd Traction Control Behaviour

I guess one sure way to test my TC is to put it in a position of forcing it to operate. I know a lane nearby that has a few berm like obstacles on it. If I approach it right I bet I can it to trigger, or not. Said lane is a BOAT and I won't be veering off it to test - all responsible like :)

Got it, thanks once again...sending virtual beer vouchers. :D

Disco 2 Thing took off like a startled dog!

I've been reading about these 'ere Mass Airflow Sensors and how they can deteriorate over time, get covered in crud from the EGR system etc, etc. So, I was curious about whether my truck's sensor was in need of attention, or not. Not terribly keen on taking the thing to bits to find out it...

Disco 2 Odd Traction Control Behaviour

Thanks again Sierrafery, I'll take a look at them over the weekend. Any issues with squirting magic mending juice (WD40) all over them?

Disco 2 Odd Traction Control Behaviour

I believe the wheels are: 18 inch LR alloys with 255/55/18 tyres. The drive is gravel / compacted earth (not really sliippery) and none of the other cars, of which one other is a full time 4x4 with TC has this happen. Not that this is any real indicator, I know. When it happened on the road it...

Disco 2 Odd Traction Control Behaviour

Road test was a mixture of success and failure. It actually drove much better, unless that's just a perception and not reality, with all four tyres being the same AND the TC did not activate any where near as much. It cut in twice, once on almost full right lock leaving my drive (which is...

Disco 2 Odd Traction Control Behaviour

Hey sierrafery, this is interesting as I am considering a lift and increased wheel / tyre size in my future to improve off-road performance (and because IMHO it looks awesome). But, could you expand on the impact here on ABS etc? Seems I need to weigh up this downside.

Disco 2 Odd Traction Control Behaviour

Sadly, no tester - if anyone knows of one near Guildford that permits use for drinking vouchers, I'd appreciate intro. I'd be interested to see how my MAF is doing - I don't think the truck is up to full puff, but I have nothing to compare it to. The spare makes a set of four, so no expense...

Disco 2 Odd Traction Control Behaviour

Right, spare is now on. That was quite an experience, damn those alloys are heavy! Thought I would struggle to find a use for that torque wrench I bought years ago when I was spannering my Fireblade! But, no, wheelnuts now at 140NM. I also acquired a 12v wheel nut gun - not sure it was...

Disco 2 Odd Traction Control Behaviour

I have always kept the same tyres on the same axle, in fact I prefer to have the same tyres on all axles. In this case, I only picked up the truck a week ago Monday and as of this morning, I'll at least be back to 4 of the same, with an odd spare. I'm not comfortable with tyres of differing...

Disco 2 Odd Traction Control Behaviour

Sadly, equally tyre pressures haven't solved it. I'll swap the spare for the odd tyre and see if that improves things.

Thanks for all the advice, it's going to help a great deal.

    Disco 2 Rear Step Removal

Right, here's my plan: Dinitrol kit. Cheap tarp, polls and ropes to provide some weather protection. Thorough clean. Get the car on axle stands Wheels off. Cover sensitive stuff, like wheel hubs. Spray stuff on.

    Disco 2 Rear Step Removal

Thanks. I just looked at some prep and protect services which are bank breakingly expensive - though cheaper than a new chassis! Seems the big issue is getting it dry enough to put the stuff on. I don't have a garage and with it being October I need to work out a cost effective way to do this.

    Disco 2 Rear Step Removal

Thanks meego. You've openned that door, so I hope you won't mind me asking a few questons on the subject :) I've had a good nose under the back and to be frank, it's going to need a 1/4 chassis - the offside looks like flaky pastry. But, I knew that before I bought it and I've budgeted to have...

    alpine cd changer inop

My changer has power and I can eject and insert the case, with CDs. But, the head unit says no CDs. Like my rear step, I'm thinking I'll pull it out to save weight and one less thing to go wrong. I bought one of those tape deck to iPod interfaces of Amazon for about £5 and dug out an old 32gb...

    Disco 2 Rear Step Removal

Thanks meego, I think it took more effort to write than the deed itself. If you can't have fun with it, what's the point. :D
