is the front bumper man enough

Thanks again. Had a look at some of the links posted, and it seems like S3 bits aren't so rare after all.. :) Any recommendations on a good, cheap winch, to be used for hauling myself/ recovering around P&P sites, that kind of thing? If it's just for occasional (not competition) use, is the...

is the front bumper man enough

Does a defender one bolt straight on? A winch is on my shopping list, there's plenty of winch bumpers available for defenders second hand, but I've not seen many series ones...

Anyone going greenlaning in or around s Oxfordshire?

My S3 is currently SORN and needs an MOT - hopefully to be back on the road in the next few weeks so I won't be able to make it :(

Anyone going greenlaning in or around s Oxfordshire?

I'm not sure there are any decent lanes - I thought they made them all off-limits a few years back :(

    Show us yer lamps...

I've got some on mine: (in it's normal state - broken!) They don't look too out of place, and were a definite improvement over the previous ones which were outlit by candles!

best place to find a heater motor

I used something similar to this: Bilge Blower 12v Marine 4" In-Line Exhaust RULE 240 | eBay I fitted it next to the heater inlet (where the old fan sat), with tumble drier ducting to the heater core. I used either a 1 or 2 ohm resistor (I can't remember which) to give me the dual fan speeds...

best place to find a heater motor

Mine fell apart too, so I replaced it with a bilge blower from ebay. Seems to work OK, and shifts about 2-3x the air that the series blower did - the thing actually demists and gets warm now! :o

    Fuel tank, How big?

Bloomin' eck.. Mine sounds like it's going to rattle itself to bits at about 60mph with 235x85 tyres and a low mileage well maintained 2.5 defender engine in it - 75 would scare the bejeezus out of me!

    Cooling when off roading....

Blimey, talk about a heated debate... ;) A ducted fan in front of the radiator will impede flow when the fans not running, and you are moving along at a reasonable speed, as you are blocking certain areas of the rad with the mechanism. However, the ducting will create a funnel effect, meaning...

    Cooling when off roading....

4 core rad from paddock now fitted (it was only a few quid more than a standard 3 core one) and the ebay fan replaced with an Omega aircon fan, which shifts about 2x as much air :) Hopefully that should sort it out once and for all :)

    Cooling when off roading....

I'd chicken out when it got over 100C as I didn't want to push it that hard... Oil was getting too hot too as it'd start to puff blue smoke on high vacuum - I'm guessing oil vapour was getting sucked out of the rocker box through the breathers. It stopped doing it as soon as it cooled down, so...

    Cooling when off roading....

Fan's blowing the right way... I've bought a beefier one on the cheap to see if that helps any, it's a load cheaper than a new rad anyway ;)

    Cooling when off roading....

I've tried to get as much mud out from between the fins as possible - it has been clogged up in the past, and is as clean as I can get it now... I've flushed it forwards and backwards with a hose, and run rad flushing stuff through it... Fan is on the front of the rad due to lack of space...

    Cooling when off roading....

It wouldn't surprise me at all if the radiator is well past it's best on mine though - the gunge that came out of it when we first drained it was pretty horrific... The fan I've got is the same as : Electric Radiator Cooling Fan 14" Push/Pull Universal S | eBay With a relay kit and an x-eng...

    Cooling when off roading....

Hi, Quick question to those of you that green lane/pay and play.... Do you have any problems with cooling using the standard rad with a petrol series? I've got a 14" electric fan in front of the rad, and even when it's running all the time I struggle to keep the temps down when trundling...

    2.5 petrol engine into s3

I've got a 2.5 petrol in mine, after an unfortunate incident with muddy water killed the 2.25. It goes pretty much straight in - the mounts are the same, you will need to drill out the bellhousing holes slightly as the studs are slightly larger, the series fuel pump will bolt up to the side of...
