Help make my 2.5 petrol waterproof.

The cheap britpart electronic dizzy innards are utter crap (unsurprisingly) - I tried one and it didn't fit properly and broke when being assembled! I've got a SimonBBC (Electronic Ignition, Home of the Powerspark electronic ignition and electronic distributor) electronic replacement dizzy...

Defender Steering Column / PAS Pump

I've already got the steering box :) Dave - How much for the reservoir and pipe work? :) Mark - how much for the pump, mount and column? I have the crank pulley already, does the pump come with a pulley?

Defender Steering Column / PAS Pump

Hi All, I'm after an upper and lower steering column for a defender - basically everything in between the steering wheel and the steering box... 300TDI model preferred as I understand that makes it the same number of steering wheel splines as my series, but anything considered.. I'm also...

2.5 petrol with twin choke webber - fuel pump problems

OK - I'll try and find the gravity flow/return system in my box of bits if I can, that'd be closest to what the defender setup is. If not I'll be scouting for a pressure reg!

2.5 petrol with twin choke webber - fuel pump problems

Facet pump ordered. Is the fuel pressure reg obligatory if I don't refit the gravity feed flow and return system that the defender uses?

2.5 petrol with twin choke webber - fuel pump problems

I've tried re-routing the pipework round the bulkhead at the back instead of across the front, it doesn't seem to have helped, but it's it's a problem fuel pump side it wouldn't do. Touch wood it's been OK when it's started, it's just the starting itself that's a problem... Before the two and...

    Wheel swap?

I think it depends on the thickness of the rim - the previous 8 spoke steels I had on were marginal on stud length. The ones that I have now must be thinner as you can get the nut on a load further...

2.5 petrol with twin choke webber - fuel pump problems

I've got a 2.5 Defender petrol with the weber in my 88, running off the standard series mechanical fuel pump on the side of the block. It's really fussy on hot starts - sometimes it'll go on the turn of the key, others it'll need 10-15 secs of cranking with the foot flat to the floor before...

I've got a complete defender 2.5 petrol engine in it already, with the twin choke weber.. I'm lucky that my old man is very handy with a welder and likes projects :) I'll have to have a look at yours one time when I come down to me folks place :)

    Choices choices... :(

Due to the crappy design of my cage I'm not sure a box like that would fit on the back - maybe down the sides over the wheelarches... Series71 - I've got parabolics so it's not that uncomfy (apart from crashing over potholes!) It looks like the simplest option is to keep the thing, maybe look...

I've got an OD that I've not fitted - got everything bar the 'special' LR tool for the star nut thing, suppose I should add it to the list of things I should do to the old girl!

    Hard Top Dimensions?

Hi, I've tried searching but I can't find any dimensions for a hard top for a SWB S3 - specifically the height between the wheel arch and the top of the roof about where the petrol filler would be - likewise the internal width at that point :) I'm trying to work out if a hard top would fit...

Thanks... Any idea on the dimensions of a hard top? :)

    Choices choices... :(

Due to a change of circumstances, it looks like during the winter I'm going to have to use the S3 for my work commute of about 30 miles each way. :violin: Currently it's a 2.5 petrol (defender engine), which for those mileages would probably bankrupt me! It's also a pickup, with a home made...

Will Cheap Kenlowe-esk Fans do the job?

I put one of the cheap 14" ebay fans on mine, in front of the rad. It worked OK, but still got too hot last summer, although that was probably the rad's fault rather than the fan. It's now spare as I replaced it with an aircon fan from an vauxhall Omega which fits very nicely in front of the...
