Biodiesel- Is anyone processing their own ??

FWIW, my waste disposal guy bought his off eBay!! To give an idea of how it's easy to muck up if you don't do your research he's got a degree in chemistry, reckoned that would help him get it right

Biodiesel- Is anyone processing their own ??

If you go for it, be careful, read everything you can get and take great care when running the plant. One of the people I use for waste disposal started to 'brew his own' a few months back, ended up destroying the engine in his Mitsubishi L200, rebuilt it, then destroyed it again.... On the...

Anyone know a good Landy club to join.....

Having been ballast / mechanic to a Freelander owner for a few weeks now I'd not describe land rover owners as friendly, not friendly, not as such... Helpful, knowledgeable, informative, enthusiastic, supportive yes, definitely, but friendly??? hmmm, :D :D

    new member :)

Wot he said ;) This place is ever so slighty biased towards one brand, the name is a give away ;) If / When you get a Land Rover then they'll be incredibly abusivev and helpful, rather than just abusive :) BTW, if you are really 20, then unless you've got an incredibly accomodating...

Should I risk buying an older TD4

Which has the pleasant effect of leaving a bit more knuckle room than the average car allows for. The jobs I've had to do on the wife's so far have mainly been a pleasure, including the VCU and bearing replacement :)

Should I risk buying an older TD4

eBay is well worth a look for one, it's the most used classified ad site in the UK.

    torque wrench

If you buy from Halfords make sure you keep the receipt and make sure that the location is away from direct sunlight. The life time guarantee dependsd on proof of purchase and while a credit card statement is legally adequate, the receipt kicks ass :D If you go for the Cromwell one, haggle...

"Judders" whilst pulling away in 1st

I'd guess at the DMF, it sounds like one in the early stages :( However, before chucking a load of money at the possible problem I'd get a ruddy big pry bar and crawl under the car, check out all the bearings and mounting rubbers for excess play, if you find any, fix it, the play would have...

I wonder what happened to it after the professional built it? ;) :D

Should I risk buying an older TD4

There are loads of high mileage 75s about with the 2.5 V6 engine in, they have their foibles, as does the TD4, but they'll keep going for a good while if looked after. The 1.8 is subject to the HGF disaster, but there are even high mileage 1.8 engined 75s about, quite a few have had the...

Should I risk buying an older TD4

Yup. The L series appears to be a pretty strong engine if cared for, but not as economical, or torquey as the TD4, although there are tuners out there who will change that for a few quid. I got the wife to buy the TD4, but I have owned a Rover 75 with the BMW M47 in it for four years and...

Should I risk buying an older TD4

I did some pretty serious research before allowing the wife to buy our TD4 a few months ago, they aren't the most reliable, that'll be the Terrano in most cases, but the things that go wrong with them are either avoidable, or cheap(ish) to fix for a home mechanic. Do read everything on here...

    torque wrench

If budget is an issue get a low torque type, 0 - 35 for example. It's far harder to guesstimate the low torque settings compared to the high torque settings. Also, high torque settings tend to be big fat bolts, big fat bolts are much harder to break than the the little ones :) The other way...

Are two wheels better than four

Being a coward, I'd have kept my fingers inside the door !!! Wonder how many times he had to put it back on the wheels before he got it right? :D

    Which One

Use the informatiton on here to fix the disco, then decide which to keep. I'd keep the Freelander, but I'm not allowed off road and diesel is horribly expensive :(

    Air Con Problems

If it's not the above, have you checked the relay for the aircon? Relays can weld themselves closed, not often, but I've seen it happen.
