    Hello

Hello and welcome to the loony bin :) Don't worry about the folk who call Freelanders Gaylanders, jealousy is an evil mistress :D You will find just about all the information you need to keep the FL going, and buy a decent Disco TD5, or RR when you want to move up on these forums :) Do...

Front window wipers making noise in operation

I dunno mate, but go over to the the introduce yourself bit and post in there first, it's considered good manners on here :) Then run a search, you may turn up summat, if you don't you can at least rule out a few areas that you currently haven't even thought about.

MPG - Heater on/off whats the difference?

Handy if the handbrake was cr@p as well :) The common house brick, more useful then the average swiss army knife :D

Freelander TD4 Auto ES X Reg

PS If it feels gutless below 2 to 2.5 k then it might be the MAF that's going, do a search, there are other cheap to fix problems that cause the Td4 to lose bottom end.

Freelander TD4 Auto ES X Reg

The wife's Td4 auto is reasonably quick out of a side street and not too bad in a straight line. If you want to get more, then search for Synergy, or Rover Ron (same horse, different jockey). If you want to see reports of the effectiveness of the Synergy then look for posts by Singvogel...

    freelander clutch change

I've used scissor jacks successfull for gearbox work before*, but you need to be ruddy careful they don't fall off one way or the other, two may be better and drop each end a little bit at a time ;) If you are working on your drive, put a bit of ply or hardboard down, it not only catches the...

    Freelander 1 Replacement Engine

I recently suggested the 160 bhp Rover engine to some one who was talking about modifying theirs, another user very quickly pointed out that it would need the correct ECU and a fair bit of additional wiring, the simplest swap would be to the same spec of engine.

Freelander TD4 Auto ES X Reg

How good is the deal on your car? Would you have problems selling it privately? Are they offering a fair price for it? The Td4 BMW diesel is reasonably solid, although it does have the odd electronic gremlin (MAF failure is a given at some point in it's life for example). What are the...

MPG - Heater on/off whats the difference?

Oh how things change over the years, when I were a lad the brick went on top of the peddle :D

    90 Centre of Mass

You sould be able to work out how to do it yourself by now, as said, it's basic enginering principles. I assume you can do bending moment calculations involving point load and udl? Things like the engine and axles could be considered as point loads, chassis and body work as udl, the whole...

    New Freelander Owner

Welcome. Don't mind the gaylander comments, some folk seem to be jealous of the Freelander's economy, rust resistance and comfort :)

    4wd to 2wd conversion

Doh, thought you had the diesel. not so many fuel saving tricks for the 1.8, just make sure it can breathe, air filter, air box, check the plugs are good. air pressure etc still stands though :D

Welcome to the loony bin. Search is good, the humour is brilliant, and the knowledge appears to be boundless :)

rear prop removal - just how hard is it??

There is a bloke with a V6 FL on here, he was talking about doing that as a series of changes he'd made to the car. Problem is I can't remember his user name, or remember if he posted about the mods.. He had changed the autobox for one out of a Rover 75, along with modified drive shafts etc...

    4wd to 2wd conversion

From what the Bell Engineering mob have posted on here, and put on their site the VCU does not fail suddenly, it's a gradual thing over time. Following on from Singvogels thoughts there are other, free, ways to improve your mpg, get the EGR out and clean it, clean the PCV filter, keep the...

    New Concept for 4x4

Or maybe the Indians, they own Land Rover now and it's not unknown for aspiring new owners to try and tell the established design teams what the customer really wants :( Alternately, it could well be a student working on an automotive design project, I had a couple of questionaires from...

    Snow - again!

No snow here now, brilliant sunshine and 15 degrees on the back yard :) I doubt it will last, but it's letting me get some gardening done.

    head gasket replacement

Hello, welcome to the forum. Yes, most of them will all do over 100k miles if looked after even remotely carefully. I have no idea about the fuel line, but you might find an answer if you run a search in the Range Rover specific forum, if not ask in there, odds are they will know :)
