The 2nd issue with mine as well as earth trouble was also the sender wire, I'm not sure if it was chaffing somewhere on the engine or whatever, but new sender wire. Cleaned all earth's and it's now perfect.

Thanks a lot chaps. Forgive my lack of knowledge here. I've wired brushed with an electric drill all the alloy parts. They look great. If I leave them bare will they corrode any quicker than how they left the factory? The alloy isn't treated on new items such as water pumps and ancilleries...

Mini update Finally lapped the valves in today, started with course grit paste, until the note of the friction changed, repositioned and did this a few time. Then changed to fine grade paste. What do you guys think of this one? Also cleaned up all aluminium engine parts with a wire brush...
