I have asked the garage to check all the work they have done after my cam belt catastophe so if that doesnt fix it i can rule out timing/valve clearances etc. if not looks like ill have to have the head off...

    thats my thoughts, i can live with the smokey-ness, as long as its not a sign of impending doom, and providing its not a sign of poor compression (therefore making it a **** to start in the cold)
