sounds bit like the starter solenoid if it just "clicking". I swapped mine last yr and it's been fine ever since. 130 quid new from island. The copper contacts in the solenoid get a bit corroded - cleaning them up should also sort it out.

I get more in the summer and winter. Over the winter approx 26mpg local - now 30mpg. I recently did a 300mile run to motorway run Sheffield-London and back - 5 big lads on board and I got over 35Mpg. Recent service and auto oil change has made a big difference.

tis only available on the manual as well - so if your XS is a an auto it doesn't matter. Apparently there is an uprated battery and starter to cope with it - if you ask me it's bound to be problematic.
