Just stuck 2 Kumho on rear axel at less and 100 fitted ea - can report no difference to the ageing pirelli STR they replaced from the front. Can no longer justify cost of Pirelli STRs 17" at somewhere in the order of 170 a corner. These we're around 110 four yrs ago. So far no difference...

Does anyone have a crank pulley exploded diagram for a TD4? Trying to workout where the woodruff key should go. Mechanic said one we removed didn't have they keys and I've heard that mentioned on here before. Trying to source if this is still the source of the clatter despite new pulley...

Well had belt off and can confirm still rattles - so no AC or ac tensioner. What a pain in ass that was to get back on. That leaves alternator, water, oil and other tensioner. PAS was changed few years ago so should be sound. Relieved no AC, now hoping it's the tensioner like others...

Just been under it. I hate to say it but looks like the AC pulley has a little play in it. Sounded worse when i engaged the AC. Now i've removed the wheel arch cover can see the belt vibrating on the wheel. Also some slack in the tensioner. I'm wondering if the knackered crank pully has...

Could become an expensive guessing game this. Does anyone know if I can remove the bottom belt - one driving the AC to rule out the bottom two pulleys as this is where i think the noise is coming from. Could also be the tensioner.

I thinks it correct description is crank shaft pulley damper. I assume but not sure how the rubber damper prevents too much vibration from the crank shaft. That on mine is what had failed. Can't understand why still getting some rattle unless the cheap part is u/s or another pulley is on the...

Arrrggg driven 10-15 mins and rattles back but no where near as bad. Where to look next? Only noticeable on idle.

Thanks. It started out of the blue (although I had thought engine 'note' had changed) and drove for just over a week as I had no alternative. Can lead to crank shaft failure I believe, if not sorted.

Well the £99.99 ebay crank pulley fitted and no more rattles. My mechanic said it was murder to get it off :) Wonder what's gonna go next....

I did mine sat - this is 2 1/2 yrs junk - and def wear gloves i'm still cleaning my hands :doh:

Well it's done - didn't look too bad after 20K and 2 1/2 yrs but felt hard. Also cleaned ERG which was done at same time as breather and clogged up again. Removed ERG pipe and blocked. Can report no smoke at all now. Now to try and clean my hands!

Vic, I've just bought the ebay filter and seals for 11 quid - going to give this a go (save cleaning old one!). Inflation seems to be raging on the full kit - I paid £25 quid over 2 years ago now £40! I have a feeling this is the same filter as used in the Rangie oil burner so might explain...
