anyone ever spun over a petrol by hand to measure compression?

I will need to buy a seperate starter for this engine, since the engine in my car right now is a diesel. They arent compatible. That is why i would like to measure before i spend tons of money :) But i guess ill have to find one on the cheap then according to your experiences! Thanks :)

anyone ever spun over a petrol by hand to measure compression?

I dont have a petrol starter for my spare petrol 2,25 engine, but I do want to verify if the block is worth refurbishing. the tops of the cillinders have a noticable groove. I hand spun the engine by the crank bolt dog it had on it. Dry: 30/35 psi Wet: around 50 psi Anyone who has ever done...

yup, the car runs again with the same setup as before. cleaned up all the contacts etc just for ease of mind. Its more important to me that i understand now why and what causes it to shut off. Thanks massively, weird this isnt showed in the diagrams i have. Are injection pumps aftermarket or...

Custom wiring: Why does my land rover not start?

Oh frick, that would make a lot of sense. Besides this explains why it may be messed up now, since it has been sitting there for 3 weeks covered in oil. Thanks for this, i will check it out and report

Custom wiring: Why does my land rover not start?

Hi all, I am back. Again, lol. This will be a bit of a longer read where there are multiple questions packaged into one. Basic info: 109 74' 2,5NA (15J) no turbo Std gearbox I came back from holiday eager to drive the landrover again. However it did not start. I checked the fuel pump, pumps...

Quick question: can i remove a blade from parabolic springs?

Thanks for your input! i was thinking the bottom one myself, but hadnt noticed any rivets. But youre probably right, and i just didnt see them. Ill be curious to see how big the gap between the leafs get. However on my front 2 blade one the gap is wide too, so it shouldnt matter too much i...

Quick question: can i remove a blade from parabolic springs?

Hi all, I have heavy duty parabolic springs. 4 blade. Can i safely remove a blade to make them 3 blade? Picture for refrence. I know there are the lighter 3 blade ones available for sale, but i dont know if a 4 blade is modifiable to perform similarly to a "genuine" 3 blade. The reason i want...

    Engine oil series 3

i use 20w50 mineral, i recently switched to 15w40; nothing to report as of yet. Funcitons the same. just DOUBLE TRIPLE CHECK that its mineral, and not some half synthetic stuff; or debris from the inside of ur engine might loosen itsself and go on a little trip around ur engine.

    2.5NA leaking from bolts

Dry as in, yea; only residual oil from the sides of the dipstick tube. I feel like i am burning some oil too. Been driving lots of highway. Cables are an earth strap indeed, the other i would have no clue. Just a filler hole of some sorts it seems

Series 3 Gearshift Jammed in Neutral on S3

Judging from the killermat, check if you have plenty of clearance under the pedal. Maybe you fitted some and now you cannot fully engage it properly? Still wouldnt explain the weird "lockup". with aftermarket selectors, the O-ring at the end of the selector is different and can therefore...

    2.5NA leaking from bolts

Hi all, yesterday my landrover ran terrible. Stalling at idle and losing oil pressure for a short while after which it regained itsself. Checked the oil, DRY. Completely dry. While it was always full. So something is amiss. When I checked under the bonnet and filled it up with a litre i had, i...

Series 3 Losing clutch pressure over time

Hi thanks for above images, I managed to order everything I (Thought) I needed. I have a LHD, so I had to remove a fair bit of stuff before I could pull the clutch pedal assembly and remove the lines. However, I ran into a problem. My clutch hydraulics are assembled differently than the above...
