I thought I'd try here but I think I already know the answer (hgf).... Driving around town normally temp is fine. Hit the A roads for a little while and sometimes the temp will rocket right up to the red, slow down and it'll drop back to normal. Sometimes it will, sometimes it won't...

Right so jacked up front. Both wheels move in the 12 and 6 o'clock position. About 1/8". You can see the brake disc move. Foot on the brakes and everything tightens up. I say swivel bearings. Any more for any more??

You can find a recon place. A lot of decent independent motor factors (the old fashioned type) that know their stuff tend to do them. Disconnect it (making sure the battery is fully charged) and see if it still drops. That will show if it is the alternator or not.,

Yup, commercially done. Less than 50 miles. About 1/4 inch of play in the pulley lol! Will be backed on monday.

My battery drain issue was down to the rectifier on the alternaotr keep sucking the juice out. A fully charged brand new battery would be dead in a few hours - all the way down to 3v. You could see it on a multimeter draining before your eyes. Remove alternator cables and see if it stops.

Could put an oil injector in the line somewhere. I know someone that has one fitted to his transit from the aircon pump.

I now have an alternator that does this Ruined Alternator on Land Rover Discovery 300tdi - YouTube Have dropped the original Lucas one off that was discharging the battery to a repairer who restores them. Needs a new rectifier and brushes. The replacement that was in the video was obviously...

I changed the injector as per my other thread for a different one and no more check engine light!!!! YEY! It is however blowing like a steam train past the seal as I didn't have any new copper washers so have to re-use an old one :o But it has full power restored so I have a little happier. Now...

I got a no.4 injector in a head from someone this morning. Pressed the injector out and put it into mine. IT LIVES!! NO MORE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT!!!!! But it does sound like a steam train at the moment as it is blowing past the copper washer as I do not have any new ones until monday. Power is...

Are you doing something to your Series?

I can acquire one but I don't want to run the hassle of it possibly not coming out or snapping in the head..... so on and so on....... I'm at a loss :(

I am having the whole "crabbing" issue at the moment as well. Would be good to know how it is solved.
