Side windows or panel van panels ?

If I had to I'd get grills. But I've often paid someone to watch my car for the night. Give 'em left over cooked food (I always cook local style wherever I am) and give them cash in the morning for looking out for the car. I've been hot in 'barb but never cold. That's about to change I think...

Side windows or panel van panels ?

I like the extra vis. of windows, I can't see of a benefit other than security - which I've never worried about in Africa. Might change my tune back in England.

    Roof Tents ~

So how much is a Hannibal in the U.K? I got quoted R8500 for mine in Cape Town, where the 'factory' is. It's actually rather basic. Then it turned out that the LR place I bought Rhubarb from used to own Hannibal so I paid R6500 - about $800 - £400. They are awesome although there are some...

    African Visa Charges

Before we could leave we had to pat 40EP for a police inspection ($8) This lasted less than a minute. - Vette, the road from Abu SImbel to the Sudanese border is finished and the border crossing buildings are built. Everyone is waiting on the Sudanese end to be finished which is variously...

    265/65/16 on the Bonnet

This is mine with 265/75/16 on. Also with the woodland bracket mount. Being serious though if you're keeping it on there for any amount of time, particularly in the sun, you must have a cover on the wheel or the rubber degrades very quickly. I cut the middle out of mine to prevent ballooning.

Further to previous Sudan: You must also register your visa in Khartoum when you pass through, this is a further £105 Sudanese Pounds or $50. Our hotel arranged this for us for free. The Emperor's Terracotta Landy's have been found.

Just south of Cape Maclear/Monkey Bay in Malawi. I had a custom made one made of Rhubarb. They're actually wood and all made by hand - just pangas, knives and chisels from logs they cut off trees. I have the number of the guys who make them - if I could get an order of 30 or so together then...

    Edinburgh to Uganda

I nearly went to the Korean place but instead went 100m up the road to a new place the Royal Cafe. Was all right but ate there, spent 3 hours at the Afra mall shouting at banks in SA then drove 17 hours straight through the night to Wadi Halfa. BTW it was another $50 each for registration.
