    been and had a closer look. my first est of 2-5mm was a bit out but i can move easily by hand the groved section back and forth 1mm. i can also rotate it approx 1mm either way without the TV part moving at all. Just had a look on RAVE and it shows the groved section being the one that is bolted...

    The large solid part which sits closest to the rad is fine, no play. the inner part with the groves for the aux belt can be moved. Feels like the rubber has gone soft

    Cheers CharlesY! had a good look round and cant see any other leaks around the tank or chassis but the pump is making some funny noises. the pump doesnt look to hard to replace but i think it may be a garage job to change the crank pulley!

    Not sure, all i know is that if you had a big enough bump, it would break the supply to the fuel pump

    it's on the bulkhead between the engine and horn. just an electronic switch to cut off the fuel pump in the event of an accident

    sounds like wastegate modulator valve, wastegate arm is seized or intercooler pipes are stuffed

    Drivers side is the fuel pressure reg. on the pass side is the fuel cut off valve. looks like a giant rolo!

    Rangie! 1994 soft dash 300tdi!..........i know what you mean. been looking at replacing the disco 2 and saw a 03 plate rangie td6 vogue and thought wow! at £12,000 what a bargin... then thought what happens when it goes wrong :eek:

    my thoughts are now going towards the fuel pump. started the pump off the key tonight and could hear a bubbling noise comming from the fuel filter and the pump went through two stages of priming (second stage made the pump run faster & pump sounds quiet loud). on second try on priming pump it...

    it's on the min mark, but i did notice that the fluid appears to be bubbling in there, so was wondering if the PAS system needs bleeding or its a sign that the pumps knackered?

    OK, sounds like a job for the weekend!. Going to put the belt back on tonight and go round everything its running as it sounds 200% better without the belt on. Think the PAS pump is the source of the noise due to the amount of play in it. I will check the engine mounts too just to rule them out...
