did speak to J Fearn about the TC lock up and shift pattern when he did my ECU. He said that he wasnt looking into it but he was supprised no one else had. reading on the net, the US auto's have a different shift pattern. think the UK ones are mapped for towing rather than day to day driving

Yep. thats true. How much slippage did you get? standard td5 auto's need reving to make em move. when i first got mine i thought something was wrong because it was so slow but an ECU remap made a massive change! (made a driver of a ford c-max TDCi look a fool off the traffic lights last week!:D)

oh! any parts needed to fix or is it a case of tightening pipes etc?

went to move the disco tonight after it's sat on the drive for a week and spotted a nice patch of oil under the engine. Had a quick look from below and it appears to be coming from around the alternator. Where would it be coming from? does the alternator have an oil feed?

The auto's lock the TC up at certain speeds in each gear (4th is about 55mph and i think 3rd is about 45mph) this gives direct drive with no TC slip

mines got a new K & N filter but still thuds. could it be a sign that the intercooler needs a clean out?

I thought that from the first pick but from the other pics i'm unsure. is it bolted to the side of the cylinder head (above starter motor)? Or could it be the gearbox valve block?

Think i might have found the problem! On the drive home tonight, reached the point where the TC locks up (in D), put my foot down and there was about 300-400rpm of slip. Pulled the stick back to 3rd while going through a village, got out the other side and increased speed untill the TC...

noticed on the drive into work this morning, the vibration gets worse once the t/c has locked in (once locked, the car is very sensitive to throttle inputs and when using cruise control and can kangeroo badly). is it worth checking the box fluid and is there an inspection plate for having a look...

there is def something not right between 2300-2500rpm. causes a bad vibration through the whole car. when looking at the engine, it shakes from side to side, very quickly, almost like a misfire but clears when more revs are applied. it does seem down on power but that could be down to me now...

Head gasket done (wallet £800 lighter!) and still running the same! not sure if its worth worring about now as most of the mechanics are new!

Garage have phoned today. Geadgasket gone. £700 to fix including crack/pressure testing of head, new injector seals, new exhaust manifold and oil/filter change etc

mine did last year

mine does this every time the seat is adjusted. to fix it, i turn off the ignition, put my hand under the seat and wiggle all the wires i can find. turn the ignition back on and light goes out

I'm taking it that it's going to be expensive?!:( .....but if it solves the problem (assuming that a small gas to water leak will reduce the compression on effected cylinders) it will be worth it just to have it driving great again. Forgot to say that i drove a mates 03 TD5 last weekend and...
