Does anybody know or have a link on the most effective way of bleeding a 300tdi (apart from driving it off a pier, cos I think even after 15 years at the bottom of the ocean the dam thing will still have air in it)

A massive thank you to Brian for helping me do my head bolts, omg how tight have they got to be, pulled my shoulder out tightening one of them. . Having to do everything with left hand now, makes it feel like someone else is doing it for me!

Engine is all stripped and there was definite signs of gasket leaking, between 2 & 3rd cylinder - heads been skimmed and pressure tested & now I just need some nice wether to put it all back together :) I just hope this gives me my heaters back

Got my alternator back today from getting refurbed :)) £60 that's half the price of a new one lol (really got to start stripping to get the head off and skimmed & pressure checked - but the weather hasn't been very kind - you lot with workshops and barns and tools really do have an easy life, me...

Aww Jon, my thoughts are with you and ya family :) keep positive mate and do all the mad and stupid things you've always wanted to do... As for my essex mud monkeys sticker, I stuck it on the inside so it's backwards!!

Cheers Wangie(Ian) - once I got my alternator back I will give it a go, I'm not gonna start replacing the head gasket just yet (if the water pump isn't pushing the water around enough I guess it won't get all the air out of the system) - for the sake of £20 a new water pump can't do no harm :))

Will do Matt :) I'm thinking if the water pump is knackered it would over heat very quickly or even just on tick over (got no fan in) - so once I get my alternator back I'm gonna try a new header cap first, then water pump - the pan hard bushes were in a proper mess & yeah gonna change the...

Once I've got my alternator back on I will try Brian's header cap and see if thats a difference - may as well get a new water pump as well

So after many hours reading I'm still in denial about my possible head gasket issue (not hot air in cab) - bled the system many times, new thermostat, new p gasket, flushed the system no blockages. When I've removed the thermostat bleed valve I have seen air bubbles bubbling - I've done a sniff...

Bloody vultures! Lol - I'm not gonna break it, I'm gonna fix it lol (it should all be fixed by next week, with the help from Brian), Chris ya don't want my winch, cos it caught fire today lol - there's a wire from the winch to the bit on top (solenoid) where you plug the controller in, caught...

It does look very nice :) right head gasket I accept, but driving home today after I had wheels balanced I still had the "death wobble" so Ball joints need replacing, and the wobble caused my alternator to stop working! Battery light on and no rev counter, I've checked all the wires and they...

Just wondering, probably a stupid question but if I leave the header tank cap slightly loose, surely that will let any unwanted pressure out! (If my new air bubbles decide to show up again)

It's ok I flushed & cleaned out radiator today it's fairly easy to do :) and I will need antifreeze before it turns cold anyway, so when I do head gasket I'll do that as well, in the mean time k seal is holding up well lol & I literally only do 50 miles a month in frank anyway :))) cheers Dan...
