IIRC the flapper MAF sends a signal (when the flap is moved by air being drawn into the engine during cranking) to turn on the fuel pump Pete

Clutching at random straws (not even sure if they are relevant to your car):- has it had the front diff mod done? is yours petrol - could it be oil on the injector harness causing a missfire? Pete

So is it running rough on petrol at startup and then switching to LPG at which point it runs smoothly (the click being the switchover)? That would seem to indicate a problem with the petrol setup? .... but where that takes you I don't know - you need someone with more knowledge than...
