I use the Osram nightbreakers. They give off a great amount of light over the normal bulbs, they don't seem to have a great lifespan as I have used 2 sets in the past 18 months. I get mine off the Bay for around a tenner so it's no so bad and I always carry a spare set now.

Check each pulley carefully and I bet one will be your problem! On mine it was a worn PAS pump and the pulley pulled forwards out of line and was shredding belts. New PAS pump cured the problem.
