Ive bought this disco today !! your thoughts please

That rear arch and wing are far too heavily rusted for the rest of the vehicle to have got away with no further rust. Remember you are buying a whole vehicle, not just an interior! Undo and remove the trim strip in the boot near the back door and lift the carpet. I bet it ain't silver anymore!

    Diff Lock

Hi, are you actually reading the label/chart correctly? I am thinking it more likely that you don't actually have a CDL mechanism operational, hopefully I am wrong! Does the actual shifter knob display 'diff lock' on it or is it representative of the label perhaps just saying 'hi lo' for your...

    Discovery wheels - PCD/offsets etc

    That number suggests you have bought wheels for a D2 , not a D1. D1 = 5 x 165 (stud arrangement) Offset 33 D2 = 5 x 120 ............................Offset 55 I'm not sure the bore size on the D1 but D2 is 70.1mm

    What is a CDL ??

But it will have the internals in the transfer box for the CDL , just needs the linkage to make it functional.

    Red light! Transmission oil temperature

Nothing to get too concerned about so rest easy! The reason it comes on at low speed, or stationary, is partially due to insufficient air flow (cooling). It may well be (quite likely) that the sensor is faulty and it shows up by illuminating at temperatures it woud otherwise happily accept...

    Disco II diff lock

No, SOME D2's had the difflock. Early models had the CDL internals in the TB but didn't have the linkage to the cab to make it operational. After this the internals were removed from the Transfer Box altogether. Finally on the later models CDL became optional all but on the top models where it...

I'll reiterate...it's two seperate sheets of ali that reach from the pillar to the centre of the screen , therefore full width.

    Poor Fuel Eco on TD5

"Right now we've got 221.064 vehicles of 179.281 users. The cumulative consumption adds up to 7,9 l/100km. 2.556.798.465 km total driven distance and 202.055.869 l of gas". How do they get .064 of a vehicle and .281 users? Perhaps it's an index finger driving a wheel nut? Well that's...

discovery 2 on its arse help

The way to go. Junk the moretroublethanthey'reworth air springs and fit coils. What you lose in air doesn't come close to what you gain with coils imo. Sell the pump if it's ok and the conversion has cost you nothing more than a little time. Check with your insurance that they will accept the...
