    Lt77 slave cylinder

Use a socket (with extensions if needed) to crack it off. Then a ring spanner. Some of the conversions can be difficult. Maybe the heatshield is in the way. You could always remove that for access.

    Ex mod defender reversing light

Incidentally, although I fitted a switch, I don't have a reversing light. I've found most people seem to get the idea and mive out of the way pretty quickly. Where confusion might arise, I switch on my rear worklights.

    Ex mod defender reversing light

For clarity, I've circled it in your pic. BTW, if you screw it in too far, you won't be able to select reverse.

    Ex mod defender reversing light

Looking at your picture, it's the bolt slightly to the left of centre at the top of the gearbox. From memory, they have an odd sized head and thread.

    Ex mod defender reversing light

It won't be 20mm. I think it's a BSP size. Take the bolt out and put the standard switch in there. I did on mine. Oh, put some threadlock on as well. Mine fell out!

Is this supposed to be like this?

    Pushed in fork I meant.

Is this supposed to be like this?

My guess would be the extra hole was added to view the clutch fork.

Is this supposed to be like this?

The threaded hole is supposed to be there. There is an extra hole that someone has drilled at the end of the bell housing is not.

    Pics of carpet set fitted...

I find they impede the flow of water back out of the vehicle. Despite having no obvious leaks, water always seems to find it's way in mine!

    Auto Electrician needed South Yorks

Could also be poor earth. Check the main neg cable from the battery.

    Possessed Windscreen Wipers

If you've not changed the cable, that will need doing as well. I made the mistake of changing my wheelboxes without doing the cable. They wipe a lot better now but they still slip a little. It's on my todo list.

    Bulkhead vent flap

I redid my vent seals a couple of years ago. Used the proper rubber seals and contact adhesive. Easy to do and very effective.

    Tyre pressures...higher is better?

Mine is an HD chassis and springs. I run 33 all around. Any higher in the back without load is jarring.

    Rear Drum Brake Adjustment

New calipers, discs, pads and fluid. I don't think there is a problem, it's just the type of driving I do doesn't give the brakes much exercise.

    Rear Drum Brake Adjustment

Many thanks gents. It feels much better now. Right rear is locking a little to quickly so just need to dial that back a bit. My fronts are still bedding in. I can't lock them yet.

    Rear Drum Brake Adjustment

It's reassuring to know that by the book does not appear to be effective! I will have another play at my earliest opportunity. Thank you.

    Rear Drum Brake Adjustment

Taken from my calipers thread. Apologies for anyone who has already read it. I've got quite a long pedal at the moment, but the brakes are effective. I think the fronts will get stronger as the pads bed in. I think the long pedal is an adjustment problem with the rear brakes. I've adjusted...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Not today, but over the last few weeks I have fitted new front discs and calipers. I also replaced the original 2.5NA airbox, which was a bit of a lashup with one from a Discovery 1. This was also my first welding project, so very happy with the way it turned out.

    Hub nut setting

Ps. If I never post again, it means my wheels fell off at 70mph.

    Hub nut setting

I just tightened mine enough to settle the bearing. Gave the wheel a couple of spins, then backed off, then tightened until there was no free play. I torqued the second nut to whatever the recommendations were (around 64nm I think). I've checked the wheels a few times since then and there's...
