    Daisy in Canberra

Dear Landy Zoners Daisy has made it to Canberra, if you are in the ACT, give me a shout. David

    Hello from Daisy in Australia!

Maybe I should be! SWMBO has finally realised that Daisy is my project car and is probably ready for the day I say 'it's only a new engine that we need!'

    Losing water

I had a blown radiator caused by a non lifting expansion tank cap. Forget checking yours, get a new one from a LR dealer - NOT aftermarket, even if it is from a reputable maker such as Valeo. Having changed my rad, I began losing coolant through the overflow pipe then the top hose blew off. We...

Trouble starting, then cuts out when idling - SORTED!

Hi KMAS, if you do a search in the Disco forum for threads containing the word 'Daisy', you will see that I have been having most of the same problems as you. At the moment I have gone from a car reluctant to start to one that runs fine up to 90kph then conks and won't restart if you put your...

Daisy got us home - eventually.

And it's all true Flossie. One of the odd things about Land Rovers is that any other car would be ditched for scrap but not Daisy. SWMBO made some noises about replacing her and the children leapt to her defence. Finding the fault has become a bit of a detective mystery but we will get to the...

Disco 2 Misfire then won't start

Hello Yorkie. I've been struggling with similar issues with my 2004 Td5 Landmark and I am not out of the woods yet. Have a search for any of my threads with 'Daisy' in the title and you will get the full horror. On a cold start I wait for the fuel pump to stop churning and she fires right up...

    Disco 1 Discovery bobtail

I can't say it's exactly my thing but that is an awesome piece of work and really well executed. I especially like parking one wheel on an oil drum.

Disco 2 losing coolant .. somewhere

Used to have the same issue. LROI Magazine even said that some D2s 'just do that'. Wrong Hang an empty tin under the over flow pipe on the expansion tank then top up the coolant. If the tin fills up then you've probably got too much pressure in the system, probably caused by the cap not...

Daisy got us home - eventually.

I so miss my 73 MGBGT! Battered and (ultimately) as rotten as she was I loved driving her. I regularly drove like a loon across Salisbury Plain between Portsmouth and Cardiff in the days before the Newbury Bypass and Twyford Down were built. Back to Oz, wombats are known to rip sumps off and...

Daisy got us home - eventually.

I'll have a look at the turbo hose. Daisy has been good as gold since getting to Canberra. Acceleration, loading and even labouring the engine does not trigger the fault. Only trying accelerate hard above 100kph seems to bring it on. That said, she starts on the button if I wait until the fuel...

Disco 2 Air Suspension: both sides sagging slowly

I have had this problem twice. A single leaking spring will cause both sides to go down as the system tries to keep the car level. Beware overusing the compressor because it is designed to keep the system in trim, not inflate it from scratch each time you start up. Try raising the rear...

Daisy got us home - eventually.

Mark This was right up there with Alex and the Phoenix, I even downed a large glass of red wine (instead of ice cold beer) before going to bed this morning! The only thing lacking was an appropriate Elgar track as we crested the final summit before the descent into Canberra. As for will power...

Daisy got us home - eventually.

Regular readers will have seen that Daisy (D2 TD5) is acting up and keeps losing a cylinder above 100kph. I have eliminated the fuel pump, filter, air bleed valve, non return valve, EGR valve, ECU plug, ECU, injector harness, crankshaft sensor and injector seals from my enquires and a...

Disco 2 No luck with this disco. Blown hose

Back to your blown radiator hose. We had the same problem with the top hose (the expensive one) blowing off a week after I had changed the rad (which also looked suspiciously blown). Cutting to the chase, the root cause was the expansion tank cap not releasing pressure when it should. If your...

    and Daisy STILL won't start!

Hi Brian Frustrations continue. I cleaned out the Red ECU plug a few weeks ago and thought that had nailed the problem but it hadn't. I have just spent the evening removing and cleaning the EGR Valve, while I was at it I checked the Red plug and it was as clean as a whistle. I opened the...

    and Daisy STILL won't start!

Brian I will have a look inside the ECU this weekend.

    and Daisy STILL won't start!

Hi Mark, I got away with it this time but won't be doing that again. The old fuel pump came out clean. The air filter gets changed every 10,000km, since coming out here it is visibly dirtier coming out than when we were in the UK but not massively so.

    and Daisy STILL won't start!

I think she may be sorted - almost. The following morning she started easily so instead of the tow truck I was able to drive to the dealers. They ran a full diagnostic check and could find no error codes at all(?). The only defect they found was no shim between the crankshaft sensor and the...

    Hello from Daisy in Australia!

Dear Readers I am Daisy, a 2004 TD5 Discovery 2 Landmark. I met my owners at the age of 3 and we have been together ever since. There are 4 children, a dog, 2 cats plus mum and dad so my 7 seats are essential and the leather upholstery makes cleaning easier. We used to go camping in France...

Disco 2 Blown Out Radiator Top Hose

In case you are still following this, the solution was the expansion tank filler cap. It was holding in too much pressure and that pressure had to find another way out. A quick trip to the local LR dealer and an OEM cap and the problem went away. Even our local temperatures of 40C+ haven't...
