get some miller sport diesel additive and go give it a good thrashing (keep the revs high) and see how it goes. glow plugs, battery etc next on the list if no better

black smoke and low power generally point to one of the intercooler pipes. you cant always see the splits when off/ticking over its only under load when accelerating that you'd see. for the sake of 30 quid for two new pipes and 10 minutes work i'd change em anyway and if its still the same give...

yeah, hands up to that all day...but...yours is only doing what it was invented for and its still doing it better than most 60 years on, the freelanders make a good go of it even though they were primarily built for road use with light off road now and again (well the odd kerb anyway!)

hehehe... its too nice for that ;) never had any trouble in the snow even with the 18s on it...you defender lot might one day admit that these freelanders are pretty good all rounders ;)

and as i stated earlier i aint desperate to sell it so if it dont sell i'll keep it, if it does sell i'll just be buying another motor with the money anyway so i aint bothered either way so :D

thanks for the input fella's but it aint been in the autotrader, its only been on ebay once and i've been using it whilst the weather is bad. mileage aside you will not find a better one out there but agreed, if someone just wants a freelander there are cheaper out there but if you want great...

HI swatch i think the reverse cam just needs a feed when reverse is selected so why not just run a feed back from the reverse lamp when running the av cable through? as for the cage...my head unit came with one so can't help there :(

not alot singo... i think you can change the door lock settings (drivers/all/drive away) and errrrmm... i think thats about it :( pretty low spec canbus on the freelanders....
