    Surrey greenlanes?

I might head out to the lanes around Hindhead, saturday afternoon/evening if anyones interetsted. I need to check if they have been reopened again since their closure. Will have a look on the way home tomorrow night. Will probably just go for an hour or so.

    ooops help!

if you drove in a straight line, it probably wont make much difference. If it feels ok, should be fine.

Couple of TD5 questions, some poss generic

Ah, that's not an adjustable one as such, but it can be adjusted if you get my drift. Just unbolt the hitch and bolt back up with the desired holes. The window rust is very common on discos. Mine did similar. For a quick fix, and got the surface rust off and put some black waxoyle on it. It...

Newbee, choise between Def and Disco..

I think it depends on the weight etc, but if I remember correctly, even the biggest van can do 70 on a motorway, although I might be wrong. I'm fairly sure a Defender isn't limited to 60 though.

Newbee, choise between Def and Disco..

Fair play, I see your point on the swerving. I edited my last post as I typed it incorrectly. The speed limit for a commercial is not 60 though.

    Freelander Servicing Around Southampton?

I use West 4x4. They are very good. Waltham Chase just off J7 of M27. Service ld my old disco TD5 and now for defender, so known them for a few years.

Newbee, choise between Def and Disco..

Fair point, but any far will take longer to brake from 70+ than 60. I will accept that Defenders Are much quieter and smoother at 60, but there is no reason why if needed that they won't do 70+ all day. 200, 300 TD5 puma should all be capable of this. Oh and the speed limit for a comercial is...

    discovery td5 wont start

You will probably Have to plug it in to see what's going on. If it starts then stops, could be an earth problem, but as indicators go, it's probably not

What's all this 60 mph business?

Newbee, choise between Def and Disco..

I would say the opposite. Get a defender, I used yo own a TD5 Disco (2) but changed to a Defender TD5. there is no reason it should be unteliable as long as it's well looked after. My old disco did 26mpg average, defender does 34. I also commute for an hour each way to work (40 miles) and don't...

Couple of TD5 questions, some poss generic

You won't be able to adjust the rear height of the disco, it's self leveling, so will adjust itself depending on the load (if you have the model with air bags etc) Springs will just depress as normal. To adjust the how hitch height, it's easy (assuming it's an adjustable Land Rover one) there...

    Good Used Landy Dealer

As your near Gosport, West 4x4 is about 5 or so mins off junction 7 of M27. They are also part of the good garage scheme so you can check them out. I'm not trying to big them up or affiliated with them in any way, but I just think if you get good service, a recommendation to others is worth while!

    Good Used Landy Dealer

There is Brooklyn 4x4 in Southampton, and Keith gott which is near Alton I think, not really dealers, but do sales and could prob help with preparation. Garage wise for work to be done on my truck, I use West 4x4 in Waltham Chase. They are really good there and looked after my old Disco and...

Newbie - request for advice, please - potential purchase

Well fair play, I forget mine is 8 years old. I do about 18k a year, so will soon average it out!!

Newbie - request for advice, please - potential purchase

I wouldn't say it's particularly low either. My 52 plate has 50k on it, and I wouldn't consider it to be that low either. It's still a defender so watch out for usual stuff. Although it's only 4 years old, check chassis rust, and all other usual stuff. Also check chassis/engine numbers...

    Surrey greenlanes?

Anyone seen what the notices say on the lanes just off the A3 Hindhead area? As I drove home last night, I saw them but couldn't stop to read them. They were stuck on the posts which tell you what the lane can be used for. I hope they arnt being closed!!
