Its a long time ago but i think the sensors lever out with a small screwdriver (rather than just tug on the wire!). The issue actually is that they tend to work there way out of position by themselves, and cause an ABS light due to poor signal, so owners periodically tap them back down again...

There are reports on the net that 300tdi engines can destroy themselves when the turbo bearings wear and allow engine oil into the inlet.....the only way to stop carnage is to block off air supply, or somehow stall the engine. . Whatever you do I guess you need to be prepared for thiS...

Long shot but on my 96 300tdi my wife accidentally kicked the top of the footwell where a crash sensor is located, this turned the hazards on and it would not start with the key, I managed to hot wire the starter relay to get it going and pulled the fuse to stop the hazards. After getting home...

On my tdi, less complex electronics, it was a duff relay for the heater fan, relays can fail closed so things keeping running after you turn the ignition off, first measure the battery drain, if too high then try find the culprit.....

On my 96 with normal bulbs on the trailer I just get a “flash” from the dash, sometimes, when using the indicators, I’m not sure when the light is supposed to come on, on the dash.....it’s not a legal reqt in NZ for sure.

So “k108” needs checking out.....to see what it is doing when the clutch should have power but doesn’t.
