    Repair suggestion

Hello, Took my seat box out recently to repair a hole and paint it and noticed this, in case it's not obvious it's where the rear tub attached to that rail that goes under the doors. Where it connects has rotten away and it's aluminium right? So does anyone have an idea on how to fix it? Thanks

    Air Compressor Capacity

The one I linked to on Amazon was a similar price but was 14cfm compared to 9.6 on the machine mart. So would recommend that one. Not sure of any difference in quality though

    Air Compressor Capacity

That was my thinking, for example i want to run a decent impact driver but its only a minute use then that's it while i work. I just don't want to be constantly hearing the compressor start up again. I spent yesterday doing that, and i actually looked at the guide mentioned previous in the...

    Air Compressor Capacity

I'm thinking of treating myself to a new compressor, as mine is a bit crap, and broke. What is the minimum capacity i could get away with? I looked at 50l and 100l and there is a big jump in price between the two. The 50l ones always say, suitable for air tools in small intervals, is this...

Solution for 12v gadgets in a 24v Defender?

Yeah if one battery is fully discharged then the other will force a current through it, but the wrong way, destroying the battery! I actually wrote a dissertation on this but yeah i've forgotten most of it, including the correct terminology.

Solution for 12v gadgets in a 24v Defender?

If its two batteries, then you can have a separate circuit running on one. You would have to check the charge voltage from the alternator across the battery though, i assume the alternator produces 24v which is split across both. Also worth considering that one battery could discharge a lot...

TD5 cross member vs. the rest

Now that i've confused everyone with a picture of a TD5 cross member (Lesson learned), i now have a dilemma. I do need to replace the rear cross member, with either one with extensions or a 1/4 chassis (including suspension mounts). The dilemma is i want to keep the socket hole, probably will...

TD5 cross member vs. the rest

I just realised what picture you're referring to. That's not mine, I mentioned that just above the picture, it was there just to show what I mean by socket hole.

TD5 cross member vs. the rest

I trust you do, I'm just relaying what Richards chassis said. So if you're certain it's a td5 cross member that means it's a td5 chassis. Any other give aways? The fuel tank is under the driver and I don't remember seeing any mounts in the rear

TD5 cross member vs. the rest

Oh it's definitely an early 90. The interior is basically a step up from a series. Mechanical speedo & warning light bulbs and has richards said the early 90s had the socket hole

TD5 cross member vs. the rest

I spoke to Richards chassis and they said the socket hole was there on the early 2.5 petrol and 2.5 na and then disappearing before reappearing in a different guise on the td5. So yeah it's the original cross member. Now I have to decide wether to lose the hole with an upto td5 cross member or...

TD5 cross member vs. the rest

Hello, if anyone of you saw my other recent cross member thread then apologises for repeating. Anyway, i've gotten completely confused; My 90 is a 1986 4c which started life as a diesel and converted to v8 in the early 90s (1992 i think is on the receipt) However, the rear cross member has...

    Replacement x-member extension size

I cleaned up the entire chassis up until the rot, i used a flapper wheel and took it back to bare metal on that rear section and there is no sign of a new x-member being fitted in the past. I'm trying to find out what models have the hole, i just read yesterday that it was TD5 onward , maybe an...

    Replacement x-member extension size

Also the Land Rover is 90 v8 but was originally a diesel (1986) so a 90 4c but the rear cross member has the large hole for a trailer socket which I've just read is a td5 onwards thing. Anyone heard of this holes fitted in pre td5 cross members?
