I would be inclined to save all your money for the head gasket failures which will soon occur in your V6 as it's a rover engine...
A cheapo sat nav on ebay is cheap enough :P
try Holmes 4x4 in Biggin Hill. Dave is excellent and was very good with our recent injector replacement. Would use him again and recommend.
Was it was your dark green P38 I saw in there a week ago with new Gas suspension and a 4 digit repair bill attached?
So here it goes...
Four new injectors and she's running sweet as a nut.
Had fantastic service from Dave at Holmes 4x4 in Biggin Hill so will reccomend him in the dealers section.
Very helpful givven the troubles he experienced with the car :P
ours had a similar thing. We could get it to start by turning the key to pos II 4 or 5 times before actually starting the car. This (i understand) builds up pressure in the fuel rail.
Anyway. Pump seems fine, all injectors replaced with recon units.
The car fires up on the button but has a...
that part number pictured on top of your injector is 0445110. This is the part number for manual TD4 vehicles.
Our 2004 takes those.
They are a direct replacement for STC4555 (the land rover OEM)
It's only the auto box version from 2004ish I think which takes a different number
PRRT? sounds like excessive gas...pretty much what rover engined freelanders are worth...
Dickyboy, you need to read this: http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f9/freelander-1-8-k-series-hgf-more-data-36863.html
It's a sticky in the Freelander section for a very good reason :P
AS OP says, right at the back of the injectors. There is a plastic sheild which separates the housing from the injector rail.
With the top cover off, you should be able to identify it pretty easy. Think it's held in with 4 screws.
WEAR GLOVES :P
The key AND the plipper need to be coded.
Lots of people can code the plipper, but the key needs to be ordered from Germany (main dealer) for your Freelander.
However, I've been told by Dakar that you can start the car without the transponder in the key as long as you turn the ignition key...
Osram nightbreaker or Philips bluevision.
Consider fitting spot lights.
You don't want a defender. You'd like to arrive at your destination without unecessary aches and pains, or deafness from wind noise stemming from the resistance pushing a brick through the air causes!
Yes, V6s are prone to HG failure too. Anything with a rover badge and a K6 engine is.
Personally, I'd avoid it. The HG's are known to fail hence the cars are cheaper than the TD4s.
The gearboxes are fine, it's the IRD that was a little weak in older versions if i understand correctly...
Bizarre, but glad to hear you've found a solution.
I had a similar wheel bearing sound on a Renault Megane. Turned out to be one of the tyres. Swapped the spare around and went for drives. With the offending tyre/wheel off the car, the drive was without resonant rumblings.
bizarre sometimes...
Right-o, here's the problem.
#2 injector serious leak back, #3 injector medium leak back. #1 and 4 are fine.
So I'm now on the hunt for some reconditioned injectors as the mechanic says he can't get hold of any at the moment from his normal sources. Only new.
ah. That doesn't sound good Vertuas. Not good at all.
But with ours, you only have to turn the key for a few seconds and then back off.
It could still be the pump though. Is it possible to feel it prime perhaps so I can check?
Seem to think there are two - one in the tank and one underbonnet...
Yup, they've always been good to us. Unfortunately with work, we won't be able to drop the car off to them in the next few weeks so have booked the freelander into a local place in Biggin hill who apparently specialise in LR.
they will change the pinion oil seal on our rear diff and do a...
Thank OP. I did suspect injectors, as 3 look original so a leak back test is on the cards. For the moment, however, I'd like to cross off the cheaper bits and bos which could be causing it.
I'll pop the car into a garage to get the leakback test done. Trouble is, all the ones local to me (I...
