Cut the hog rings off and use thickish cable ties when re fitting seat base. Also you can swap the bases from side to side to even out the wear.

I think you can get lighter springs for the bob weights. also check their not seized up. Best way to set a V8 base timing is to keep advancing it till the engine pinks then back it off till it stops pinking! Trust me it works! The timing makes can be way out. Tune it by ear its the only way!

They change the crank to make the stroke longer to get them up to 5ltr. Same as the 4.2 and 4.6. All have the same size bore as 3.9.

I've had a similar fault recently and all it was, was a bad connection on the plug that goes on the height sensor, I gave all of them a wiggle and it fixed the fault. Worth a try

Hog rings are little metal rings that hold the cover in place, and can be a pain to get off, and even more of a pain to get back on. Ive used thickish cable ties twice now on my seat bases and theyve been fine. Much easier than re doing all the rings

The crap drawings on rave show them to be the same. The 3 or 5 panels look like one panel from the inside by the look of it, just different stitching on the outside.
