I roughed mine up with some wet n dry and sprayed them with normal cellulose primer and topcoat, they came up lovely. Peeps say it doesn't always last but they are so easy to take off and do again its not worth worrying about. Yeeeeeeharrrr!

Chaps, failed MOT on rear wheel bearing, ordered a wheel bearing repair kit D2380 for early 110 with drums on rear but the parts i received don't seem right, i've been give two oil seals FTC4785 and FRC8222 but there was only one in my hub and it looks different to both the ones they have...

Also, once you have paired them off correctly make sure you install them the right way round - the shoe with the post lower down is the leading shoe

Take a look at pictures in my previous post, the two shoes in picture 1 are the same as each other but very slightly different to the two shoes in picture 2 (which are also the same as each other) - the position of the three holes at the top and the adjuster post is very slightly different...

Sorted. They are different, and they were fitted wrong, preventing correct adjustment. Been like it last 5 years:eek: Removed, refitted, adjusted, test drove, adjusted again, Eureka - perfect brake pedal.

Can i assume from this that the leading and trailing shoes are slightly different? have searched this but getting differing results. The rear shoes on the 109 are definitely different, but not sure if early 110 is the same.

THey do move the shoes out, but one of them does not move the shoe out far enough, its like the shoe slips off of it. The snail cams look ok to me which is why i wondered if the position of the post on the shoes is wrong. Tempted to weld a small sleeve over the post to make it bigger and see...

I'm one of the chosen few lucky enough to have drums on the rear :eek:, pretty sure they are causing my pedal travel problem, when you press the pedal you can hear squeaking movement like the springs being stretched, so they are obviously not adjusted right. Trouble is, however much i try one...

Btw whats the difference between defender and series seat box - is it just the shape of the tunnel opening? I have the defender 200tdi tunnel and bulkhead diaphragm but not the seat box.

I've sat the tdi on the chassis mounts that were there. There was a transit diesel engine in there before, and the driver side mount has been modified, but it did not look as though it had been moved backwards or forwards. The other mount looks standard. I guess i need to measure up the...

Undo it, pull it out and have a look first. Its a bit fiddly as there isn't much space to get a spanner round it and turn. I believe there is a seal of some sort underneath, you should not need to replace the whole unit unless the solenoid itself has packed up.

check for wear to the drive splines on the inside of the main input shaft and on the teeth on the clutch bearing, they do wear away over time. If you slide the clutch bearing assy inside the main input shaft and wiggle it you can see how much play there is:eek::eek::eek:

Have a good look round the engine just after you've used the vehicle, coolant leaks can often be very hard to find esp. if the water leaks onto something hot and evaporates. I had a small leak on my 200tdi from somewhere that would have needed an engine stripdown to fix - stuck a bottle of...

Pretty slippy along that lane and the range masters on the 110 are past their best. Got it out after a bit of toing and frying, all part of the fun.........
