    TD5 odd behavior while overtaking

I did mine about 6 months ago. It wasn't as bad as some that I have seen photos of on similar threads. There must have been a lot of oil in the loom back to the ecu though, as I check every couple of weeks and there is still the odd drop coming out of the red connector. Round connector on front...

    BennehBoy's D2 adventure

No reason why it shouldn't work. Reminds me of when I was about 13 and both head gaskets went on my Dads old V4 Transit. He stuck wet n dry to an old circular saw bench at his mates joiners shop, squirted some oil on there and skimmed the heads flat by hand in about half a day. We then drove...

    Maaarrghk!'s TD5 De-restriction bloggy fing

Stage 4 - Centre Box Delete. Did this a week ago, but waiting for my right foot to settle down before getting any fuel consumption figures. A few little snags to watch out for. The original centre box has 2xM10 studs fitted on the front flange, the delete pipe does not. Luckily I have a large...

    TD5 oil leak

Agreed. Front camshaft seal. About 6 or 7 quid. When you undo the 2 clips that hold the bit of wiring that goes across the front of the seal it will probably just fall out. Literally a 2 minute job to do.

£48 from Paddock well spent MJI, if you don't mind the extra cabin noise. Only put it on at the weekend, so yet to do the full appraisal including fuel figures. Watch this space.

Nail on the head there Dave. I do like to make the most of around 80 to 90% of a vehicles power, leaving a bit in reserve just in case. I am now more confident in overtaking and suspect that this is where the fuel is going. Just fitted centre box delete pipe over weekend and pleasantly...

    propane injection, info required HELP!!

Not knowing your background MJI, I cannot comment on your own abilities, but at least if a professional installation goes boom one would have some form of comeback, providing one survived the experience. Despite having qualifications in vehicle design and 30 years messing about with cars and...

    turbo?

I have heard mention on other threads that de-webbing the manifold with a cutting disc on an angle grinder after it has been skimmed will prevent this problem happening again. I think the idea behind it is that the manifold becomes more flexible. It will probably still try to warp, but the...

    propane injection, info required HELP!!

If I could offer one word of advice here, it would be NO! Seriously, if you are having to ask a basic question like that you are risking becoming your very own mushroom cloud. My advice would be the same as if you were wanting an LPG conversion on a V8: Have a professional do it, or at least...

    BennehBoy's D2 adventure

Yes it was a nice day in West Yorkshire today Beneh. I spent the morning doing a centre box delete and the afternoon driving around like a hooligan. Serck intercooler still in the shed and it keeps winking at me. But I will play hard to get and save up for a Pro vent first. Noticed your big...

    low turbo pressure

Try also checking for snapped exhaust manifold studs. The manifold can warp and break them. If the turbo is whistling you should be getting boost. But the whistle could be the manifold blowing instead of the turbo spinning. If the manifold is blowing badly, there will be less gas to spin the...

    low turbo pressure

It might be worth taking the intercooler off and swilling it out with white spirit to see what comes out.

Sand blast or use an angle grinder with sanding disc attachment. Powder coat is tough stuff. After you galvanize, make sure the powder coaters use a mordant t-wash to properly key the parts, otherwise your new powder coat will peel off in no time.

    low turbo pressure

Are you sure the hoses aren't de-laminating? You can't really tell without replacing them. That would be a cheap enough first step. Then check for a blocked cat. That would prevent it spooling up as it should. Just de-catted mine and the first thing I noticed was the turbo whistling. It had...

    Transfer and diff oils

Draper do one for about £14. Mine leaks a wee bit, but the job is now much easier. Got it about 6 months ago off a chap on e-bay I think.

    Replacing Water Pump Question.

Try a Snap-On hexagon socket, or any make that claims to have a "flank drive". Failing that there are special sockets available that have a slow helix left hand thread inside them. They might work. Don't put the old bolts back in of course.

UK construction and use regs say a speedo should be within 10% between 20 and 90mph. EU regs add that speedos should not show a speed that is lower than the actual speed of the vehicle. So if you are doing 70mph, your speedo should read between 70 and 77. LR will have used this as their start...

    EGR gone

Put it this way. How well would you perform if you were forced to eat some of your own waste products? Ugh! Did the egr delete a few weeks ago and just done the de-cat. Both well worth it. Next is centre box delete. After that it starts getting a bit more expensive I'm afraid. You might like...

    Tyre Wear!!

I had the same problem after picking mine up from Fife with a fresh MOT. They had just thrown on some new parts to get it through the test and out of the door. Tracking solved it, but cost £68, which was well spent. This was for a proper 4 wheel check. The company that recently took over...
